    Hi Hubbers,

I'd like some help with passing the Quality Assessment Process. Will you please give feedback on my article The Pitfalls of Employee Immigration (must be signed in to view). What can I do to improve? Thanks!

      Hi there,

What is this number: 2, 20,000?

What d'you mean 'seemed'? Either they came to the UK or they didn't.

White collar workers are not what you mean. They should be called 'manual workers', 'semi-skilled', or 'low-skilled workers'. The old term, 'blue collar workers' isn't used much any more. 'White collar workers' are usually admin/management.

The UK is not a 'developing' country. India is a developing country. Britain is a developed country.

I won't go on. Your article contains too many factual and grammatical errors. Might be a good idea to get someone to proofread it for you.

On your profile you say you work as a solicitor at a tribunal claims company, so it looks like you are trying to promote a business. That isn't permitted.  Best to remove that link.

Are you actually a qualified solicitor? I don't see your name at the SRA site. If you are a graduate and a solicitor, you should add your qualifications to your profile. It will give you credibility.

      Good luck.

It did my head in.  Although it appeared to be written in English, the words were English, not the sense or meaning or sentence structure.  It was all very confusing and unclear and awkward.

Robin, your article talks largely about the pitfalls of hiring illegal immigrants so your title must reflect that. You also need to edit your article for easy reading. Editing several times is important as we often don't see little things.

Look up "plain English' and try and write in that.

Ensure what you write is backed up with evidence. e.g. is it really true that employers in the UK "tend" to overlook the need to check their employee has the right to work in the UK?

You don't understand the case you have cited - the individual in question was not a 'migrant worker'- he is Jamaican national who had been in the UK since childhood, meaning he has the right to work and live in the UK (in common with many people from the former Commonwealth). However he didn't have paperwork to prove his right to work in line with more recent legislation- the case is about whether the company was right to fire him for not being able to provide the correct paperwork.

I am baffled by your hub.

You assert that companies should be more careful not to hire foreign-born people without the legal right to work in the UK. Sure, okay.

You illustrate (?) this with a court case where a company lost their case because they improperly fired a foreign born person who had, and proved he had, a legal right to work in the UK.

How does that make any sense?

In addition to the many valid comments above, the article is self-promotional. You are not permitted to link to the company which you claim to work for.
