Paypal unable to receive funds, where do payouts go?

Hi all, for some reason I just got a notification that my Paypal account is limited and am no longer able to receive funds. I will call them to ask what the issue is (but from horror stories, they take ages to resolve), so in the meantime, I'd like to know what happens to my hub earnings — since they have nowhere to go now. I'm slated for a payout, will it just bounce? Thanks!

Sounds like a PayPal issue. Not sure if your payment would be "rejected" then just hold at HP. Just find out what the discrepancy with pp is

It'll be held in your HubPages account. If I were you, I'd disassociate your Paypal email address from HP until the issue is resolved. Luckily, there are three weeks till payout.

Thank you @theraggededgeposted, I think this is what I'll be doing. The Paypal situation seems to be a bit concerning for me now, and I'm afraid that they'll lock me out of it.

Sometimes I read too fast!  I overlooked this... "I will call them to ask what the issue is (but from horror stories, they take ages to resolve"
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience, but I've had PayPal for years and problems arise occasionally. Usually it's a very short wait time and they seem to resolve issues quickly.

Hi @robhampton, thank you, I sure hope so. I've had them for years too, no issues and suddenly bam. They say that my account is suspicious and I'm locked out.

LOL only because that triggered a memory.. Yep! Happened to me too. It was last year when I played "Draftkings" sports betting and I won a significant amount of money. So Draftkings paid in small increments ($10, $8, $200, $28, $100, etc..) It was the stupidest thing (I no longer play DraftKings because of that) but anyway.. PayPal locked my account because that was "suspicious" activity. I had to go through a bunch of BS to get back on track. Not sure what your deal was for "suspicious" with PP, but I sort of know know what you're talking about now with PP

I wish it was something as straightforward! At least I'd know where to look, but I legit have no idea what I've done wrong. Just saw this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsY3AMtneFI

Now I'm super worried about the funds inside, with people commenting that they'd never recovered their money. Oh man, praying for the best or I'mma cry.

So in the video, the girl has a lot going on with paypal. But I do to so I can relate. My day job pay is through PP, plus Hubpages, Google and my eBay stuff. She also talks about all these forms she was asked to send. She said at the end that she never really had a significant amount of money in PP. I can't say 100% that I've never been asked to upload a document to them, but I just can't remember them ever asking me for that. Just call them and verify everything. The wait time on the phone might save you some long term stress lol

I can relate to you relating to her (haha)! We're all similar I believe, that's why I'm kind of worried. But like you said, I'll just have to call them and try to take it easy for now. Oh well!

If they're saying your account is "suspicious" this probably means that someone tried to hack into it and they are waiting to hear from you so that they can straighten the problem out.

Hi TIMETRAVELER2, thank you! It's been resolved (I'm wondering if I can edit my original post to update everyone), the problem seems to stem from my sales on a popular print-on-demand website which paypal thought was "suspicious" for some undisclosed reason. But they reviewed the site and said that everything's good to go smile

It's highly likely that you received a Spam email. Report it to Paypal and they will tell you if it is real.
Do not click on anything in the email. If you have already clicked on a link in the email you should change your password immediately.

Hi galleryofgrace, thanks for the kind reminder! But it was a legit email from Paypal (I check all my mails before I open them) and everything has been resolved now.

Paypal is usually very good at resolving issues.  A simple phone call should do the trick.  It sounds to me like there might be some sort of technical glitch, especially if you have been receiving payments all along without difficulty.  Let us know what happens and good luck.

They might be helpful, but I found their lack of knowledge about their TOS is astounding. It took about 10 calls before they could eventually tell me that they wouldn't send dollars outside of the US.

Not sure how much money you have in that account, but if you have a trusted person (like a spouse, sibling, whatever) you can change your HP paypal address and have the money sent to someone else. They can then deposit it in their bank account, and transfer it to you.
That is kind of a hassle, but might be the best option since I do not know how long PP will take to resolve this issue.

Hi DrMark1961, thank you, I was thinking about it too. I'm the only one with a paypal account, so I'd have to create one for my mom and have it sent to her. But you're right, sounds like the best option now.

There's a limit on the amount you can receive per year before alarm bells sound and they look for additional ID info., drivers licence, passport images etc. Apparently it's to stop money laundering. It happened to me a few years ago.

Thank you for that eugbug, hopefully it's just a routine "checkup".

Didn't Paul post something about fixing that problem with Paypal recently because some people were starting to earn far more than before?

I think that was in the case of a single large payment sent to PayPal, rather than accumulation over a year or total amount sent over all time.
