Can code to embed graphics or other resources be included in hubs?

   When a web site supplies html code to embed an infographic such as a chart or table, is there a way to embed it in a hub?

      Currently as far as I can see there isn't.
      We have limited control over editing HTML and the only place where it can be changed is in text modules. Even there, the only allowed tags are:  a, blockquote, br, strong, em, u, h2, h3, h4, li, ol, p, pre, sup, sub and ul. Presumably this is to maintain a consistent style and appearance of pages across sites and stop us producing anything unorthodox!
      You may be able to export a chart as a jpeg, or a table as a CSV file and import it into a table module. Of course a JPG wouldn't retain any interactive features that the chart could have had on the website.

      Not exactly.  If you have permission to do so, however, you can save the image to your desktop and then use your "insert photo"  option to put it into a hub.  You can even use a photo editor to refine it before doing so.

   Thanks, eugbug and TIMETRAVELER2. I thought about just inserting the chart as an image, but I'm not sure if that might not raise copyright issues. I think it's safe to assume that if a site gives embed code, that constitutes permission to show that resource in your article. But does it also constitute permission to copy the image? I would think that, from a copyright point of view, copying the image and linking it back to the original site has the same practical effect as embedding, so I may do that.

      I often email manufacturers and ask permission to use their photos. Usually they're quite amcable as long as the source of the image is attributed to them. Sometimes there can be a bit of red tape involved. A leading US manufacturer of test equipment went to the trouble of composing a letter of permission before I could use their photos, plus I couldn't use any other photos of similar coloured products on the article that would create brand confusion!

         I regularly email owners of photo copyrights for permission to use their photos, and have a fair success rate. But I've never done that with a manufacturer. It's definitely something I'll keep in mind.
