Dropbox

   Does anybody know what this is?  I got an email saying that someone left me a document on dropbox, but it doesn't look right to me as this is someone I email back and forth with all the time.  It also appears as though Dropbox is trying to sign me up...need info fast.  Thanks.  Also, how can I undo it if it's gotten into my computer.

   I would just email the person you go back and forth with and see if they sent you a dropbox file. If not, then remove it. Dropbox is well-known, and their support is great. I use them all the time. You have to download Dropbox for it to be on your computer. If you did download it, then simply uninstall it by going to your settings, then Apps and uninstall the program.

      Kenna, you don't need to download Dropbox if someone is just sharing a file with you. You can access it via the web.

   TT2 It's fine. People can share files and folders in Dropbox. It's just a cloud storage service like Google Drive.
   
   Dropbox is essential for me as I back up all my data: photos, writing, documents, and everything else into it.

      I contacted he person who sent it to me and she said she had just learned that her computer had been hacked and all of her email addresses had disappeared!  So, I deleted the dropbox email, changed all of my passwords and sent letters to people I email to do the same and advise their friends to do so also.  Better safe than sorry.

         Whoa, that's scary. Well done for heading that one off at the pass. Your friend needs to increase her computer security.

            Thanks.  I've never seen Dropbox before and have never used it and know that if my friend wanted to send me a document, she'd do it as an email attachment.  I don't think I took a hit from it because I acted immediately, but I'm always wary when I see things coming from people I know that they would not normally send.
