Do we need religion to know what is right or wrong?

   Why do we need religion? We all know what is right or wrong. why can't we just do the good even when nobody is watching? Apart from the right and wrong, what else is available in religion?

      Its not only about right or wrong. Religions are paths by great masters who have fused with god and show man how to become one with god or their higher or inner self
      
      The right conduct will happen automatically after enlightenment.
      You understand all is you so by harming anything or anyone you are actually harming yourself.

      for me, it was a source of spiritual comfort. for others, the church is a place for fellowship.
      
      and even though i am not a Christian, i am always happier to see a new church go up in my neighborhood than a Circle K or gas station...

      Yes we do need religion for what is right or wrong.
      
      It's a misconception of mankind that he has reached that stage where he does not need dos and donts or guidance from a superior authority. And if you think logically, it's impossible for every human being perceiving about him or her self as liberal. And when you think that no body is watching you, the Satan takes this oppertunity for granted to misguide human. Just as when your boss is out station, most of us (humans) do a lot of other things which are out of our Job Duties and also neglect some of our Daily Routine Work. We get relaxed and think of ourselves as the boss itself and act according to our thoughts (any) which come in our mind.
      
      Of all religions Islam is the best one. It's more than a religion, a complete way of life, the best art of living for the whole of mankind. In the past, it had already transformed the world from darkages to lightages, from hate to love and from chaos to peace and once again as propheciesed by Muhammad (peace be upon him) and other religions as well, it will do the same before end of time.

         Your religion is fanaticism and not Islam. Sufis which is considered as the core of Islam propagate the oneness of prophets and religions and are totally against all types of fanaticism.
         
         You are anything but the Light and if you represent Islam then Islam is doomed.

            Sufism is the deviation from Islam which is much influenced by Hinduism. Sufism is Sufism not Islam.

               Many including me consider it as the heart off Islam. There is nothing wrong in Hinduism which said the same thing prophet Muhammad said a few thousand years before him
               
               Hinduism accepts Muhammad as a great prophet , is that wrong philosophy?
               
               When you do get to know god you will see the wisdom of the Sufis.

   No, this Christian does not believe that you need religion to know what is right and wrong. Generally, atheists and theists know that it is wrong to torture a child or gas Jews in railroad cars and need not appeal to religion to know such things.

   the lessons in the bible are nice to read to children, to let them know of some basic good examples.... one story i used to read to my children was ; obedience protects you.... they enjoyed the story and it stuck with them, they pass it on to their children...... some may not need any guidance at all but i feel those people are few and far between.  Misha doesn't of course, he is fine

   I believe that discussing religion is a kind of intellectual sport that can reveal aesthetic rethoric in very agreable ways.
   In the other hand, it is very important to get along well with neighbours be they in the house next to yours or in Iran.
   
   So far, discussions about the sex of angels brought us hatred, hysteria and war.
   
   You are maybe asking yourself why I'm posting in this thread.
