Broken Links

   My Hub all of the sudden has broken link warning. I have three links and they all work fine and go to the correct pages (license, information,wikicommons appropriately). What is the warning referring to?

      Try removing all your links and see if that gets rid of the warning. If not, then it is a hubpages glitch.
      
      If the warnings go away, add the links back one at a time. Wait a bit and see if the warning reappears for the link you just added, then keep adding links and repeat the process. You need to wait in between adding links because it takes a while to test them.
      
      If the warning reappears after a specific link is restored, you will know that this is the problem. If the link is actually working, then this is where the glitch is. I would just remove the link unless it is absolutely essential.
      
      Keep in mind that the warning may be correct even if the link is working when you check it. The warning just means that the link was not working when HP checked it. The site might have been down for HP but working for you. Or it might be inaccessible for some other reason. For example, the site may have blocked visits from certain IPs or user agents and may be blocking HPs link checker, resulting in a broken link warning, even though you are able to access the site.
      
      If the link is essential and still generates a broken link warning then you should contact hubpages and see if they can fix the issue.

         Thanks. I'll have to keep this in mind for the future.
         
         I found out that wiki changed the site address. I found it on another site and found the citation there so I won't post links and the info is switched around.

      If you are receiving a false positive warning links are broken in your article, visit the broken links section in your account and click "retest" or "ignore" button.

   Got it. For some reason the link to the page doesn't work anymore. Does Wikicommons move files?
   
   I reposted the same page but for some reason it has a different link address. Have you guys heard of that?

   Yes, content will change there if one person removes a pic and then another person adds it, or they just change where it is being stored in terms of categories.

   I have an article that keeps coming up with a broken link warning for some reason.  I snip the link, then re-add it and it will go away for a while.  If it wasn't important to my article as a reference I'd just get rid of it but it's a major source and so I need it.

      Yeah. What I did was find the exact same picture on another site and used the citation for the picture itself but with the new site as a source-link. I just go the extra mile and find the copyright notices on individual images by researching where that site got their info and find the source and license based on that. Most of the time I can find the artist etc for correct citation other times I can't so I have to look elsewhere.
      
      Wikicommons has a lot of attachment documents and other image/docs that would take awhile to shift. The other sites are more stock so I can't find much there to use in every other article I write.
      
      I'm not really a wiki person so a lot of info I just find related material to verify things. For some reason, I like the research as well as the writing.

   When  YouTube went down about a couple of weeks ago, my YT links had broken link warnings. YT went back up, and a couple of warnings lingered.  I had to go into the broken link field and retest them for the warnings to go away. With that, a site goes down (for whatever reason) the link at your article will manifest a broken link warning. When the site goes back up, it is supposed to turn off.
