   I feel like I know our motley crew better this year than the last yesteryears. I haven't but plan to vote this week. What is your favorite category? Has anyone voted yet?

         I think it's an excellent opportunity to see what others are writing and acknowledge those who go the extra push.

               Kenna, I've never understood this compulsion to turn everything into a competition.  I view HubPages as a platform for writers to write as well as help and encourage each other.  The minute you introduce a contest to determine who is best, then we are all back in high school with its cliques. 
               
               I was very disappointed when HubPages introduced this juvenile contest.  Every year I live in hope that they will do away with it and start treating us all equally instead of pitting us against each other.

                  Well, it's not really a competition because it's ongoing through the year. I think it's quite nice to nominate people - encouraging. Plus it was fun going round the sites looking for articles and hubbers.

               For the same reason OldRoses is giving. You can only choose the best hub when you've read them all. Otherwise it would be just a random pick of the litter so to speak. That goes for all the other awards too.

      As far as competition, it's somewhat useful, perhaps, but, ultimately the individual has to "compete" with him- or herself, i.e. self discipline/inspiration.
      
      By the way, my little granddaughter broke my Hubbie Award mug years ago. Ha! ha!
      
      P.S. In looking at the categories, some of them are pretty vague. "All-around?" Given the diversity at HubPages here, that's tough!

         My mugs broke years ago too Marie. Oh well, I think I have pics on hubs somewhere. I agree some of the categories are a bit vague but I guess it is hard to come up with new ones.

      Done all mine. I went on a rampage of the network sites. Finding 'most bizarre article' was an adventure but the hardest was finding a new up and coming hubber. The one I did go with, I'd never heard of, He's been here 5 years but has a great and updated collection of articles.

   Yes, I have voted. I love the Hubby Awards and a chance to acknowledge some of our peers. I did try to vote for all different people this year though as the same few seem to win each year and I'd like to give some others an opportunity. Not that my vote alone will make a lot of difference.

            No not really. I mean the same people seem to win the other categories each year, and with the number of members here that doesn’t seem right. However I guess it is mostly the same people voting each year as well and voting for those they know. There are great hubbers who have been here for nine or ten years and never won, I wouldn’t think they could be included in the newly category.

   I don't think the purpose is to read all the articles and decide. The aim is to acknowledge and pat people on the back.

   Jodah I can think of a few new categories: Best Use of Video, Best (Specific Sister Niche Site) Writer, Best Researched Articles, and Most Insightful Commenter. Too many categories, though, might "break the bank" when it comes time for HubPages to purchase all those mugs!
