I've been working my tail off, and while my traffic has gone up, well, I'm ambitious and want to see it get even better. I know there are some newbies on this site who are already getting tons of views a day. Any tips from you guys on what I can keep doing? So far I've:

    1. Added photos and videos to my hubs.

    2. Adjusted the summary text to make it more SEO friendly.

    3. Added RSS feeds.

    4. Adjusted the text to put ads in the best place.

    5. Adjusted my titles to make them more keyword friendly.

    6. Written blurbs for ezine sites to get backlinks.

    7. Joined the HubMob.

    8. Added links, amazon capsules, etc.

    9. Written hubs that are at least 500-600 words.

Anything else I'm missing, even minor things? I really want to succeed at this. Thanks.

I have written a hub on SEO you can have a look at http://hubpages.com/hub/homeworking_tips you are doing a lot of things right so give it a bit of time and it will work. The other key factor to getting lots of traffic is to write on subjects people are hungry for. Believe it or not a topic like 'The Beatles' is still right up there for people searching on the WWW. So is Michael Jackson for obvious reasons given recent events, Barack Obama and who has died this year (famous people and celebrities), find an angle to write about these types of topics and you could find your self inundated with traffic, but go for long tail keywords because these will all be highly competitive.

      Hope this helps.

Be patient, keep doing good hubs and spend time becoming fans with other hubbers, as your fan base rises the more your hubs will rise with popularity,

First I have to say that the work and time you're putting into this shows, and it's commendable! Great job on everything!

    My advice:

    1. Be patient. One of my first hubs that I published back in June was kind of limping along. Last week it started bringing in 100+ visits per day from the search engines. Sometimes these things just take time.

    2. Utilize HP's Groups feature. It was a little disconcerting to go into your NYC Halloween hub and have this long list of recipe links showing up. Off the top of my head, I would say you clearly should have Food/Recipe, Travel and NYC groups. Using the Groups feature would also eliminate a huge list of links.

    3. Tighten up your summaries -- a lot. General rule of thumb is that they should be between 25 and 150 characters -- not words! Think of it this way -- go and Google something. for the Websites you see returned, there is a title, a summary and a URL. That is where the summary text (may) be used. I look at it this way -- the first sentence should say it all and have my keywords. I usually have more than one sentence, but it's only to make it LOOK more substantial.

    4. In your Links capsules, you have two sections:  URL and Title. It appears as though you've duplicated them. Take your Haunted hub. In the Links capsule, it should have read:

    URL: http://hubpages.com/hub/hauntednewyork

TITLE: Haunted Cities -- Haunted New York City

    5. You've done a good job with niche keyphrases in your tags. But don't forget the basic ones. Your NYC Halloween hub doesn't include the following as tags: new york, new york city, halloween, manhattan, big apple.

Oh -- check your NYC Halloween hub. One of the RSS feeds is broken.

That's all I can think of for now. Your content is really good though. I suspect you need to fine tune your keyword research. The food hubs may see a decent number of visitors, but the amount you'll make per click will be almost nothing.

Some of your other hubs, like Luxury Hawaii Vacations and Gay NYC, will see you a really good payout per click, but virtually no one's searching for the terms.

    Good luck with everything!

I always wanted to ask this but what is a title summary? Is that necessarily the same as the first paragraph of your hub?

Thanks PD. I may end up tightening my summaries. I don't think they will go into the 150 characters, as Irohner wrote. smile

    Thanks, lrohner!

How do I activate the groups function for my RSS feeds?

I keep trying to fix that HubMob RSS and it just isn't working. I guess I'll take it out.

@emievil, the title summary automatically grabs your first 150 characters or so. However, if you click edit and disable the automatic summary text, you can write it a different summary which has more keywords. I know that a few people have done this and have found success, so I'm trying it.

Some people use groups and RSS feeds or link capsules. But if you're going to use an RSS feed, I would tag your hubs appropriately and show the most relevant hubs only in the feed.

To use Group, first you have to create some logical groups for your hubs like Travel, Recipes/Food, New York City, etc. Keep in mind that each hub can only be in one Group, so choose carefully. (Although you can change them as you go...)

Go to My Account, Groups, Add New Group. You can add, edit and delete these on the fly. Then in the edit box above your hubs, there will be an option where you can include it in any of your groups. Once you've done this, you'll see the links show up at the bottom of your hub.

I had this problem last week.  I was highlighting from the left and copying.

Go to the forum thread. Right click on the RSS link.  Select 'copy shortcut', 'copy hyperlink' etc, but not just 'copy'.

  6. Mezo profile image60
    Mezoposted 14 years ago

yes you should right click it and selects "copy link location" or "copy shprtcut"

and Irogner has given you some great advice,
also, you should also check the competition, may be you chose too competitive words

and also you have to wait untill your hubs age and climb up in google, good luck

I highly recommend HubMob. Go to the Hubber's Hangout forum.  At the very top will always be the HubMob thread and HubNuggets thread.
