SPEECH FROM VIRGINIA'S FIRST BLACK LT. GOVERNOR CNN AND MNBC DIDN'T SHOW. SHE'S REPUBLICAN

    Brent Scher Asks

“Shouldn't media be all over a black woman who immigrated from Jamaica, served in the Marines, has a Masters degree, ran a homeless women's shelter, raised 3 kids, and is now running to be the highest ranking minority woman gov't official in Virginia history?”

She is a well-accomplished woman. I have seen several articles about her win online. And I did see the story covered on Fox earlier today. I don't watch CNN or MNBC, so don't know if they are reporting her win.

I am very pleased she won, and that she is a conservative, we need more strong black women in the party. Hopefully, we will attract more...

Yes, I did read CNN's article it's actually where I picked up the photo.  Thanks for posting the link. Last night it was clear all three News networks covered Winsome Sears's win and her many accomplishments. Ya know what, I just caught something ---  none of us, me included,  use her name in our comments. Just a thought, but should we perhaps not just be celebrating her win and her accomplishments, instead of who is reporting her big win?

I hear she challenged Joy Reid to invite her into her show. I won’t hold my breath.

I’m excited at the outcome of the Va election. It shows America is finally waking up and seeing the left for what it is. Relatively useless.

This is a huge victory for women and the black community.  Why are they not celebrating?

        Why would we?

You all keep forgetting that it is not about race, but policy and ideology. In the face of that, a Stepin Fetchit or Larry Elder is not going to attract our support, generally.

That is quite evident, and why no one stands up and cheers.

Because she broke a barrier and she's an impressive individual.

Many conservatives blacks are standing up and cheering for her.

"Many conservatives blacks are standing up and cheering for her."

And there is not a great many of them, that is why in the general AA community while we are not in grief, we certainly are not celebrating.

And yet you should. You don’t have to agree with ideology in order to celebrate success and achievement.

I don't, while her achievements are noteworthy, they are inconsistent with progressive values that I support in my choice of candidates.

Are you moving the ball in the direction that I would prefer?

Before you claim she is not consistent with a more progressive agenda --- read her projective policies. She is progressive on many levels.

How far do you think any of her progressive stances are going to get with a Republican in the Governor's mansion?

Believe it or not my daughter in law is progressive and a person of color. We agree on a lot of things and, I believe, those who are not doggedly entrenched in ideology can come to compromise for progress they can both believe is achievable.

But, your ball (by your posts here) appears to me to have been tossed off the side of the left so strongly I doubt either of us could agree on anything anymore.

If your daughter-in law were a true progressive there should be difficulty finding any daylight between my points of view and hers.

What areas do you have agreement with her where I don't agree?

I support Sanders and Warren for example, does that render me as a Molotov cocktail type?

If you can find points of agreement with your daughter as a true progressive, then you would probably find them with me as well.

I think the reason we have meaningful and enlightening discussions is we take a stand either has and break it down into the good, the bad and the doable or pipe  dream category. Then we discuss compromise positions which we both agree on that show promise of accomplish big goals.

I could care less about worthless and ineffective politicians who scramble to determine what particular promise (empty) will garner the most votes for them, in order to retain power. I believe real world solutions can only be accomplished when we work together in harmony.

This unbridled rage, lack of civility and open contempt for others the left has embraced over the last few years doesn’t play into my beliefs of how to achieve positive change.

Do you find Joy Reid someone that attracts your attention? She could be Stepin Fetchit twin -- Stephenie Joy Fetchit...

So you say, "why would we...  Why not celebrate Sears's win?  I ask why not?   Please back up your dissatisfaction with this woman, instead of just a vague insult of her.  Do you have any ideas of this woman's ideologies?

Come on Cred, is this in any respect fair?

Here is a link that should give you an idea about her ideologies. I would be very interested in what you think about her agenda for America. https://winsomesears.com/issues/

Fairness is expected...  Get to know her before you make the decision to just disrespect her ideologies. I will admit I knew little about her until the last two days. However, I find her well accomplished, and deserving of respect. A woman that I can admire.

You are right, I jumped on this lady and perhaps I was hasty.

Conservatism in this age on Trump finds me distrusting ANYONE that stands under its banner, Marine or no. It is automatic. How can her many reasonable proposals be reconciled with a man the won the Governorship with Trump support?

It is like mixing oil and vinegar and but I will stand back with a "wait and see" attitude.

She was probably Younkin's "ace in the hole", her very presence on this ticket may have relieved enough of the more liberal voters in Northern Virginia to have made his victory possible. A very clever man, this Governor Elect, re introducing Trump to Virginia under the cover of darkness, no pun intended.

She did not appear to run on trump policy or did Trump aid in her campaign.   she is a proclaimed conservative that is factual.  It would be much paper she is out spoken, and I get the feeling she will stick to her own views and ideolgies. I am giving her the benefit of doubt.  It may just be the mix will be oil and vinegar. Nothing wrong with that is there. I love a good mix of ideas in Government.

She did not run on Trump policy, but her primary, Younkin did. With Republicans in charge, she and her ideas will be muted in their entirety. I remain skeptical.

Younkin did lean toward Trump's agenda but had a good agenda of his own. He is one to watch, he is young, and seems to be for the people. Time will tell. I think he will be one that pushes the party to a middle. I won't be surprised at some point he runs for President. Maybe some years down the road.

Because those who drive the conversation on the left are selfish. And maybe those on the right are too.

Both parties need to understand wins are less about mandates and more about dissatisfaction with the status quo. You can’t continue to blame a guy who hasn’t been in office for a year for ongoing problems. You can’t shove change you believe in down the throats of the almost 50 percent who voted against your agendas.

Until those who win elections understand they are not given a mandate to shove their ideas down the throats of all, but have been given the opportunity to work toward winning the hearts and minds of those who disagreed with their ideas we’ll find ourselves in this ridiculous cycle of lies and denials from the left.

One would need to take into account CNN and MSNBC do lean left. Did you watch the coverage of the Virginia election? It was clear as the night progressed the left media coverage was visually showing disappointment, as Fox was showing an excitement of Youngkin holding his own.

I have over the past months have been making an attempt to tune in a bit to all three networks. I consider myself a conservative -- So, I have found myself drawn to Fox. I also can see  Fox does cover all news, they do not skirt stories.  So, much goes on daily, that CNN and MSNBC do not cover. Just my view as a bystander.

All I will say -- I hope Joy takes Sears up on her dare... It would be wonderful to give  Sears a platform to defend not only her individualism but perhaps Republican views.
