Google Analytics Tracking ID Has Changed

   The tracking ID is no longer in the UA-123456-1 format but a GA4 format. See Google Analytics Support website article entitled ([UA→GA4] Data collection and tagging) that discuss this. I could have added a link but didn't want my account closed. Until HubPages changes the format, my account settings won't change because it registers as an error. Can't participate in a broken system.

      You can continue to use Universal Analytics (UA code) until July 2023. But yes, hopefully Hubpages will include support for GA4 soon.

   Until then, I can't use it because Google didn't provide a UA code, only the GA4 code because I don't see a UA code anywhere. Any suggestions on where to look?

   I started using GA4 on my own website to begin collecting the additional data on my visitors when Google first announced it. I love the additional data that GA4 tracking provides, and I hope to be able to use it on my hubs soon too.
   
   I checked the HTML code in HubPages and saw that they still use the old “Universal Analytics” code. So I couldn’t change to GA4 to see the additional tracking on my hubs yet.
   
   I hope HubPages implements the new code soon. It starts collecting data as soon as they replace the code that Google provides. So why wait till the July 1st, 2023 cutoff date. It took me just a two minutes to do it on my site.

         I have just applied for a google analytics tracking code today. I’ve not had one before. It starts with a g. Does this mean I am unable to track my hubpages writing?

   After HubPages/TAG implements the GA4 code, all we have to do is get our new GA ID and paste it in on our earnings page.  You get it by logging into your GA account and clicking admin, then select the property you have for HubPages. Follow the steps Google provides.  But remember that we can’t update the HTML code. HubPages needs to do that.

   Google does not provide a tracking ID in the old format anymore. Please update the site to conform to the new format of the tracking ID. Urgently needed for new users of hubpages. Thanks.

         Matt, although it is true that new users can still find the tracking ID for the old Google Universal Analytics, the new Analytics 4 property provides much more tracking information.
         
         I'm already using it on my author site and it took me less than five minutes to upgrade with the new code Google provides that can be copied and pasted. I hope TAG does this soon for HubPages and not wait till after the deadline.

   Anyone figured out how to update their Analytics? Long story short, I've been out of blogging and HP for a while. I've decided to get back at it. I tried to add my Analytics code (don't have access to my old Analytics account) and I can not add the new code because HP is giving me the error that it must start with UA- but Google is only giving G- codes now. Any idea what to do? Seems like HP is behind the curve on this one.
