I am very new to HubPages as I just joined a couple of days ago.  I noticed that when I'm viewing my profile, there is a advertisement on the side which is extremely offensive to me.  It's an advertisement targeted to my area as my state has a measure on the ballot to oppose the gay marriage law that was recently passed.

This anti-gay marriage initiative has been advertising on TV as well and as a gay woman, I am extremely offended by the content of this ad - which suggest that gay people want to do harm to children by forcing our views upon them.

I don't know how to navigate to the administrators of this site to let them know I need to have these ads immediately removed from my page because I am on the verge of canceling this account.

I am a mother and stepmother and am a caring, kind parent.  I have no desire to harm any children or impose my views on anyone and I do not force my agenda on anyone - unlike these hating people who would deny me my rights as an American citizen and a human being on this planet.

Welcome to HubPages, mobilityadvocate smile you can go into your adsense account and list up to 5 types of ads, I believe, that you can block. Just get the url (right click, preview tool?) then paste it into that block list. Hope that helps.

Adsense block list may sometimes not work. It can simply be removed by using ad blockers in firefox so that you will not see any ads. It can also prevent your own impressions from falling over ads. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

The adsense block worked and I am glad not to have to look at that ad anymore.  I did make the mistake of clicking multiple times on the ad in my anger and frustration - thinking at least let the jerks pay but then realized that I violated google's don't click on your own ad policy.  Since the ad was in my profile section, not accessible to the public, I didn't even think about it.

    Arg.

I'll check out the ad blockers in firefox too.  Thanks!

Ads in your profile are accessible to the public... so don't be surprised if Google sends you a warning letter about clicking on your own ads.  Hope that's all that happens.

And remember, any ads that you block will only take effect during those times when your Hubs are linked to your affiliate code, and that ad may still show when HubPages code is associated with the Hubs.

I have once accidently clicked my own ad, nothing happened, maybe hubpages had their ad-sense code up for that one (if so thanks and your welcome lol). I think google does understand that its hard to avoid ads all the time, just try your best is all I can suggest.

I followed the directions here but I guess I screwed up sad
There is a political ad on my profile page, right under my name. It shows a picture of Congressman Bart Stupak. It is a negative ad.

I've done campaign work for Mr. Stupak!!!  I called him to let him know the ad is being served. I went to Google and blocked it by copy/paste the URL.

Evidently I messed up because it served again, right under my profile pic.

So now I'm double pissed off.

Please talk me through -- where do I find the ad block list? I must have put the url in the wrong place. I thought I had it right...

thanks in advance for holding my hand through this. I got myself all screwed up.
I may have to turn my profile pic into a pro-bart photo lol

If it is showing up under Hubpage's adsense code (their 40%) there's nothing you can do about it.
