I'm posting this in the "Report a Problem" area because it could pose a problem for fellow hubbers.  I first noticed something strange two days ago.  I got a direct Twitter message from a fellow hubber that I don't normally talk to.  It was a message asking me if this was me and provided a link.  I clicked on the link and nothing happened.  I really didn't think about it any further.

Then I got a direct message from another hubber asking me to take an IQ test.  This is uncharacteristic for this hubber so I didn't click on it at all.

Today I got a direct message from another hubber and this one mentioned a message I sent them where I asked them to look at a photo.  I haven't sent any Twitter messages. This one had me worried.

I logged into my Twitter account and it shows I sent tons of messages 20 hrs ago.  Those weren't me.   I have deleted my account but it says it can take 24 hours before it is truly deleted.  If you get any Twitter messages from KCC Big Country, delete them.  It's not me.

The only thing I've done with Twitter is vote in the Mashable's thing to vote for HubPages.  I'm wondering if that's how it got hacked.

    Anyone else having problems?

Thank you for posting this, not that it effects me in anyway, because I don't use tweets for anything.

But, I will be on the look-out for such things. Again, Thank you.

I got something similar from RooBee's Twitter, asking me to click something that caused all sorts of McAfee alerts to pop up.

That's the one.  I don't blame RooBee...she's as much a victim as I am.  I've deleted my account, not much more I can do.  I don't like Twitter anyway.

Changing your password would do the trick.

Oh man the internet is so much fun some days. I've stopped using twitter, facebook and so much other stuff lately. It just seemed to be way too much, over the top and rife with trouble. I've decided to make money quietly, if at all possible.

Yeah, I've been receiving all kinds of things from RooBee and KCC at Twitter -- but no harm done.  I simply deleted my Twitter account, which I never used anyway.  So I'm actually grateful for the opportunity to get rid of something I wasn't using anyway. . . smile

I had a similar problem a couple of months ago.Someone updating some teeth whitening rubbish on my twitter account. Tons of them and other stuff i know absolutely nothing about. And adding salt to the wound, Twitter suspended me for ..can you believe it? SPAMMING.
I complained bitterly to them thru some link of complaints on twitter. They didn't even have the courtesy to reply me, or, attend to me up till this minute. I never liked them anyway so i just ignored the issue after my unsuccessful complaints attempts.
For me, it was -good riddance to bad rubbish- anyway neutral
