I had an idea for a hub that I thought would be a good one. I went to the keyword tool and the search volume is pitiful. The topic is counterfeit toys, this can be an issue that should be important to parents buying presents for their kids and I think it should do well but the research is saying the opposite. What do you guys think? Would you go for it and see how it goes? Maybe the traffic will come from somewhere else other then google?
Kirsten - write it because you want to. Apply SEO (such as it is re search volume) and get it published. This is an issue that you feel strongly about so I say 'go for it'.
It's one more hub, it's a great subject and though it may not pay you, it may pay others to read it and be aware of the issue as a whole.
Hope that helped
You should write the hub. while you are writing some other topics or concepts my arise as you write your article. Then you can take those other topics and apply your keywords to them! Have fun!
Or as an alternative, write about counterfeit goods - or products. Both look a lot better and you could do a few different sections - adding in 'counterfeit toys'
Hey guys thanks! It feels like it should be a good topic and froggy your suggestion of going for the larger topic of counterfeit goods and incorporating counterfeit toys in that bigger topic is a good one! The one thing I have found writing here is that it is really hard to be sure how a topic will do, sometimes a topic looks like it should bring in the traffic by the truck load and then fizzes out, other topics do better then I thought and then there is every other combo of results
gonna have to go do some research now, find out what other counterfeit goods could be dangerous (more then just the toys) and what other problems are associated with the trade of counterfeit goods, such as how they support organized crime groups responsible for truly horrible crimes.
Off to go do some homework now! Dang thought I was done with homework when I left school
Oh btw froggy love your cherry christmas pic!
Write it!!!
Remember that keyword tools are backward looking - not predictive. If there's a major toy scandal you could have a very popular hub.
Yes it could be hard to monetize that particular hub, but it could get a high page rank. Which you could then pass on to another hub. I'm thinking at the end of Counterfit toys, you have a link to another hub about genuine toys that maybe you could sell.
Some hubs can exist just because you like them. I haven't made but a few cents off of my book reviews - but both authors did email me and thank me - and that was lots of fun.
Nelle what you say about the keywords being backward looking is a good point, you smart lady you . I was figuring on ending by advising buying from reputable sources such as amazon maybe with a few handy links of course I have thought about writing on the go go hamster toys as they are supposed to be hot this year, could definitely link and link future hubs on hit toys. This might just be a good long term hub, a good way to open the door to making the toy sales.
btw having authors thank you for writing about their books is way cool!
Well its published, lets see how it goes. I was kinda blown away by the amount of dangerous fakes out there! Faked airplane parts!!!! Crikey!

Writing has always been my way of talking when no-one is listening so finding HubPages is as good as picking up the phone and knowing there is someone on the other end of the line.My problem is that I have so much to write about I don't know what my niche is or if I even want one. What do you think...

Hello,I have been "hubbing" so to speak for a couple of months now, and I am wondering the best ways to get more volumes of hubs.Is it a good idea to do say 5-10 hubs on a similar topic? Would hubpages allow this?

For this week's HubMob, I have decided to cover a topic that is truly close to many people's hearts - their pets. I have never really been a pet owner, but as I meet more and more people I realize the huge role that they play in the lives of others around me. So, this HubMob is basically a way for...

I want to write about things I love, which is what I'm told you should do. So, for you guys who have had successful hubs, are your hubs like that because:You got lucky, and what you're passionate about is a hot topic; You made hubs that you knew were popular topics;Or some other reason?

I started writing for HubPages in November 2011, so I'm still going through the learning curve. I write hubs about beauty tips for women 40 years of age and older.I've noticed while reading other Hubber's articles, that sometime a person will write about different unrelated subject...
