I have signed uo and I have my aff. Id but I just can't seem to get it going. I have gone to the web site copied a code pasted in the amazon cap. on my hubpage and when i add it is sans no amazon found. Please help. can you walk me through. I am ready to rip my hair out
I'd suggest reading through the HubPages Guide section on the Amazon Capsule.
You don't need to cut and paste anything from Amazon unless you are trying to pick individual products by ASIN or ISBN. The easiest way to add Amazon to a hub is to simply add an Amazon capsule and then choose a keyword search that matches the products you'd like to feature.
My Amazon ads in my capsules have never worked! I have emailed them four times now. I know people have made purchases through my hubs, but I have never received any credit for them or even any clicks! Needless to say, I am not happy with Amazon. I'm waiting to hear from them. They asked me to send the URLs to all my hubs with ads, and I did that three days ago.
I hope you have better luck!
Habee - the Amazon code you have entered on the affiliate settings page looks unusual to me. It may well be correct, but I'd suggest double checking that it exactly matches the code that appears in the upper left corner when you sign in to amazon associates. I haven't seen one that started with anything but a letter before.
what should the code look like? mine matches when I log in, but my reports show no clicks at all.
Mine looks very similar to the screenshots at the bottom of this page: http://hubpages.com/help/AmazonAssociates
When you log in to the associates page, your code should be displayed in the upper left corner of the page.
when you signed up with amazon, where it says name of your website, did you put Hubpages?
Sorry to hear that Habee - I don't have massive sales but I have had sales from Amazon.
o.k. thanks, yes, mine is similar with a number at the end. and it does match the id number when I log in.
You can click on your Amazon links. You're saying that no clicks are showing up? Another thing I do to test, especially since I have been using twitter to send out product links lately is to click the link and double-check that your affiliate code is inside the URL in the browser address bar.
thank you, I will try. I did click on one today, accidentally, to see what happens. I did not know you could click on the amazon ads. I'll check to see.
well, I clicked on a couple and I don't see my code in the URL.
I think something is off as my reports show no impressions or clicks.
I would contact them, and see if they can get it fixed for you. If a better answer doesn't show up here, there is a forum there. I have only checked it out once and didn't have a reason to post, so not sure how helpful it is.
@habee, I hope they can get things worked out for you also.
thanks jeffrey, I think I figured out my problem... hopefully things will change now. it's kind of dumb what I did, but I'm sure I'm not the only one... I went back in to amazon sign up to check and where it says 'name of your website', I put my own sites name.... I had the proper URL for my HubPages profile, so I'm still not sure that was the problem, but it sounds like it could be! I did send Amazon a message and HP.
my son helped me figure out my problem. I messed up the beginning of my code. had nothing to do with the name of the site I entered. I've already seen at the bottom of the screen when I move cursor over an ad my code is now there.
I was having the same problem a month ago & then all of the sudden it changed. I emailed Amazon, had Hubpages check that mine was working & then I started getting clicks. I was using the WRONG ID....duh me.
You can find your tracking id (or ids) on this page:
https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp … g-ids.html
Normally they are a string of letters and numbers followed by -20. For instance ours is hubpages-20 ...
Yes, Paul. It's the same ID. I'm really frustrated with Amazon. I clicked several ads last week, but none show up on my report. I've also had people buy stuff and never got credit. Amazon has offered no help!
I just noticed that beside my Google it says "active," but beside my Amazon, it says "set."
That's normal. Have you looked at the Amazon "daily trends" report? That's the best one that shows clicks. If you've got nothing at all in there, then something is probably wrong. Some of their other reports only show sales. A typical rate of conversion from a click to a sale is in the range of 2-4%.

I'm kinda pissed and extremely dismayed. I've been with Hubpages and Amazon Associates for 5 years now and haven't made a dime with Amazon the entire time. Here's something for you guys to consider, and I am simply reiterating a comment I made on another post. You need organic traffic to your Hubs! Why? If you are using adsense, or any other monetization method on Hubpages, you will not, I repeat, you will NOT get credit for clicks on your ads from...
