Just wondering who here colors their hair. And if you do what color?

I have been coloring my hair now for several years now. I am more of a burgundy or anything with red in it...once did a purple red and loved it. Just in the past year I started coloring it more wamr browns since my hair is naturally brown. but for Christmas I'm going back to burgundy big_smile
Going to color my hair today actually.

So what abou you guys? Anyone color their hair here? smile

I have been colouring mine for the last 25 years or so. I've been burgundy, blonde, bright henna red, but now have settled on slight auburn hints to my natural colour.

I have also had a yearning to add a couple of shocking pink highlights, but never plucked up the courage.

I used to love coloring my hair with crazy colors, had vermillion red at one point big_smile

I have found permeant hair dyes in the £ stores and bought blond and red, blond to lighten it up enough for the red to be nice n bright. I did the blond part and actually just left it alone cause it turned my hair strawberry blond and like it was when I was a little kid which I loved!

Used to and got tired of the expense and keeping it up. I too was fond of the reds. Now, it is a rich, warm brown with natural gray highlights.

I colour mine blond. I had blond hair for most of my life but now it is a dirty blond. I like to keep it lighter...plus it  hides the grey smile

When I was younger, in 7th grade younger, we had a sub for class on April fools Day so I was mean and told her that all the stress school has put in me gave me white hair. Sadly she believed me until I said Happy Fool's Day lol

I never colored my hair, but I've been passing off a couple of gray ones  as "blond highlights" for some time now.  It's only a matter of time before that jig is up.   lol

    Who doesn't color their hair
never want to see my natural hue
would be very scary if I dare
too much grey would make me blue

So what color do you dye your hair?

  9. uliveulearn profile image69
    uliveulearnposted 15 years ago

It keeps getting lighter to combat the grey.  I can thank my mother for that.  She started going grey as a teenager.  I am not getting the blonde highlights as often anymore to cut costs.

    Crazdwriterposted 15 years ago

hmmm have you ever thought of going darker just to see how it sets off the grey and/or hides it?

Tried it a long time ago.  Don't think it suits me.  My daughter dies her hair jet black.  I was surprised to like it on her.

I wanted to dye my hair black and mom said NO lol yea I don't think it would look good on me so I'll stick with my reds and browns lol

My original hair color when growing up as a kid as dirty blonde, with brown highlights. As I grew into adulthood, my hair evolved to brown overall. I do not hide my color by using dyes or coloring. I am at the age now, where gray or white hairs are coming to blend into my hair. I'm not ashamed of my experience or my gray/white coming in. And, I don't think it says I am getting old. Being old is only in your mind. smile

You can. I have nothing against anyone dying their hair, so as long as they don't look ridiculous or respects themselves in the process. Common-sense goes a long way. smile

My hair used to be very white as a kid and morphed into a strawberry blonde. As I entered my 30's and 40's, it faded more to a mousy brown, now peppered with silver.

I don't mind having grey/silver, but I really dislike the mousy brown. So yea, I color my hair and my older daughter recommended a very dark brown, which is what I currently have and blends better with what is growing in.

  21. dyonder profile image71

Dyed my hair for years, until the age of 30. Everything from blue, black, purple, fire engine red, mahogany, bleached white (not really dyed there). The best (at least for the hair) were definitely hennas. The worst was rit dye (fabric colouring). Naturally my hair is dirty dishwater with streaks of red (my beard used to grown in red). Since thirty, white/silver hairs started popping up where the red was, so I leave it as is.
