I seem to have spurts of motivation, but not quite enough to get me to the level I want to get to. Some hubbers say that they make a fair bit from hubbing and they probably do, Im just being impatient and need to put a bit more work in.
I havent had many visitors this week and I am unsure about backlinking,.... motivational boost required.
Well, I guess this is a time where you might want to learn something I call "purpose". Once, you have defined to yourself, what you want from HubPages, your next step would be to set a certain goal overall. Then, take that goal and break it down into the smallest component and start from there.
If your goal is to make money, and as many Hubbers of the community, pretty much agree, backlinking, seo, keywords and promotion(referrals) are the keys to your success.
The next step would be to learn or absorb, as much knowledge from the Hubbers who have been here the longest and who have the same motivation - money.
There some marketing ploys, within HubPages, and I'm not keen on that idea of HubPages being even related to the MLM industry, but it is a platform, for which, can be made for sales. So, as I suggested, stick with the more reliable folks.
Try to optimize your efforts by properly planning your strategy, so you can be most effective/productive, as you move toward your goal. Try to keep your physical disjointedness from getting in your way. And, to do that, you must understand that what you need to push thru is basic movements.
(1) Posting forum - how much time do you spend doing it? Set a time frame for doing it, then do it consistently. This is automatic self-promotion. Even, if it is traffic from Inside HubPages, it helps build rankings on your Hub, because it's well traveled.
(2) Writing Hubs - how much time during your time of work are you going to spend writing? Then, do it consistently.
(3) Reading, Learning - how much time during your time of work are you going to spend doing this? Then, do it consistently.
(4) Reading other Hubs - how much time to devote to doing it? Then do it consistently. Leave helpful and insightful comments whenever possible. Why? More traffic, even if it's inside traffic it's good. The more visits you get the better chance your hubs are going to be read. Remember, SEO looks for changes in your hub, when it scans. If you have new comments, it picks up on it.
(5) Prepare a set work schedule and do not deviate from it. Break down the work you have to do(to roughly 10 hours a day) and plan out your tasks. You can even break down what I've said and go deeper, but then you get into building business models.
And, that's a whole other story, in and of, itself.
I hope I have provided you something of value, because that was my intention.
I am rather new to all this but it seems to me tha in order to make money at it you have to be pretty prolific when it comes to writing, for if you don't have enough written material out there for the ads to be on there is not going to be enough clicks to make anything. I think the more you write, the more ads you have the more clicks you get and it has a snowball effect, that is what makes the cash i think.
Motivation comes from within. We can only try screaming, typing, maybe fondle or tickle your fonts to help. Just ask yourself, work today, paid tomorrow or no work today, no pay tomorrow, what do you want ?
If you are looking for a kind of motivation that prompted your tennis threads, I would say we rather live without
I fully understand the problem of motivation, unfortunately its hard to motivate others to write. Sometimes the best motivation is a break, take a holiday from your day job, lay about, relax, read a book, watch tv, just always keep your computer close by, hopefully inspiration will strike!
I get tired out pretty easy which frustrates me because my mind is still creating.
Sa Toya and Lyricisgray, I agree completely.
I have a few hubs I ve been working on and seem to be adding to them, but not quite completing them...
and for Misha, that type of motivation is fantastic when its working for me.
I love the tennis, you didnt have to read that forum thread, there are many others you could read. With love...((()))
and maybe as my understanding of my writing and hubbing is getting better or more complex, it takes more time to achieve what Im trying to do..
maybe set simple hub task and more difficult together... one easy one, then publish, work on more complex one too, so I feel like I am achieving something.
I have a hub that might help. "How to Get Motivated to Write".
thankyou both.. they are great. The computer is working, my mind is working, the page I want to work on wont let me edit.. motivation is good, encouragement good.. goals and breaking the day down good....
now, just let me get into my pages!!!!
motivation middlin' lost the magical flow from yesterday...
but can get into hub pages.. brain has slowed down enough to edit and add pictures properly..
I think motivation is like energy drink. which persuades to do amazing works. a properly motivated person can do deadly job. the most common example of motivation is the terrorism. today most of the terrorists are well educated and highly motivated from their leaders. they can do anything to achieve the faith of their leaders.
dish, thats a bit dark... and not what I call motivation.
Motivation to me is self inspiration. Not a destructive quality.
And some leaders are nuts, so you have to be motivated enough to
observe the difference between truth and spin...
Some like to spin that all who disagree with their scare mongering power grabbing totalitarian antics are a threat to national security, when in fact they may just be a citizen up holding their rights. You need to be able to distiguish between the 2 a brainwashed terrorist and a motivated protestor are two very different types of people with totally different midsets.

I am sure that most of the people that subscribed to HubPages did so for one or both of the two reasons: 1. to be a "published" author/ writer; 2. to make some cash. The problem is that it is vey difficult to really make money from advertising and it will take a long time before you will...

There's a significant percentage of Hubbers for whom HubPages is a writers' community first and foremost, and the loss of comments has shattered that community. While Samantha has said comments are "on the list" to be reinstated, realistically it's likely to be months (due to the upcoming...
