    Hi,

Just recently been hit by the most severe hot flushes which are really messing with my sleep and life.
I have tried some herbals with no success and am researching a herb called Tribulus - there are some clinical trials recorded on line from Bulgaria and Russia. Interestingly this herb has traditionally been used for men - the original viagra but the hormones stimulated are common to women and men, they just act on the body parts available.
I can find lots of reviews from men relating to desire, hardness etc.....wooohooo but nothing from women who have used it for menopause.
If you know anyone, anyone, anyone who has used this please get them to post here and tell their story. Positive or negative.
NB every site I have visited - it's hard to get the search away from sites selling he product to men for improved sex or body building but I have managed to get beyond it - says there are no bad side effects known for this herb, which cannot be said for some other herbs for menopause.
Tribulus Terrestris has a number of other names: Puncture Vine, Caltrop, Yellow Vine, Goathead.
Any way girls, no other posts under menopause and I am really hoping there may be some of you out there, so please reply even if you don't have any knowledge of Tribulus, I'm feeling a little alone.

    Cheers

Long story here, so bear with me. I was getting the depo shot and it was causing problems, so I had to take a prescription estrogen anyway, which I did not like that I had to have the shot and a pill, what's the point of the shot?
So I go to the pharmacy, and they are locking the doors and won't let me pick up the prescription. So I asked for it back so I could fill it elsewhere, and they said we don't do that, come back tomorrow. Well heck with you I am not spending my money here then! So I went to walmart and found something called Phyto-Estrogen.

Plant based estrogen. This was years ago, and cheap. So my friend at work was on meds from the dr and still having flashes. I told her I never had to pick up my script, and she tried them. Next thing I know we are practically Phyto dealers at work, picking up bottles for co workers when we got our own! LOL. So now that I need it again they don't carry it, but I would look on line. If I find it I will post link here for you.

Oh BTW, read in a womens health mag that Oprah was talking about Phyto estrogens on her show. Me always a day late and a dolar short. I should have told Oprah, I'd be famous.

Last one, My favorite as I believe our problem became more prevalent after the where's the beef campaign which turned everyone off of soy protien, a '60s staple (Remember the love generation, before our kids started taking guns to school)

I'm on my second round of menopause, which rarely happens (Lucky me)  First time was after a hysterectomy, but it apparently only affected one ovary.  Now, years later, I'm back in it full swing.

When I first went thru it, I was seeing a holistic doctor (who I LOVED).  He prescribed natural HRT, a combo of 3 hormones including testosterone.

    It worked.

Now, unable to afford the holistic route, I went to a reg MD who said that the HRT he was prescribing was "natural."  It wasn't.  I took if for awhile, had to go up a bra size, then finally quit (and dreamed of being able to afford the holistic way again).

All I do now is make sure my daily intake of soy is high.  It DOES help.  But I've lost a lot of my libido which, I think, will only return with nat testosterone.

I haven't heard of the product you're looking for, but am interested to find out what the results of it are if you decide to take it.

I'm beyond that stage and settled in happy cronehood. I used to make a "menopause cake" (HRT cake), which includes phytoestrogens and tastes very nice. The idea is to bake a cake and then eat a slice every day. Infinitely preferable to pills and injections smile I think it did help. There are recipes for it all over the web.

I also used soya milk instead of ordinary milk for at least some of the time. I didn't use any medication whatsoever.

seriously ... I want to try this cake!

I found a lot of recipes, some of them WAY different than the others -- so, hmm.  If you have a min, will you post or email me with the cake that worked for you?  I LOVE CAKE. LOL

Menopause is a natural process and doesn't last forever. I plan to allow my body to handle the changes and wait out any effects. I have always been against tinkering with the body's natural hormone levels when there isn't a vital need to intervene (life or death or a severe health issue). Doctors know precious little about how our systems work, even less about how they interact and far less about women's systems in particular.

I cannnot agree more! Try eat as healthy as possible, less stress. Very little meat and milk products, lots of sleep and natural juices and vitamins. Lots of raw food and don't worry -  it will pass. As it was said: It is a natural process!
