Scare an Asthmatic day?

   I got a postcard in the mail today from the Lung Association that I am at higher risk from H1N1. Ok. They’re probably right.
   
   My question is where did the the lung association get my name? And my health information? And my address. Fairly obvious, I guess. From the doctors office.
   
   Another time, I received a letter from some government agency telling me it was time to get a pap test.
   
   I know I’m Canadian and I’m supposed to be very polite and agreeable about socialism, but I feel like my privacy is completely being infringed upon. I have never signed a waiver saying my information could be shared with anyone.
   
   I can’t go in and get information on any of my children who are over 14 because their health info is confidential, but it is spread all over to different agencies including the schools now as even they require a health card to register.
   
   I’ve never been a conspiracy theorist, but this is looking awfully big- brotherish to me.
   
   I’m beginning to wonder who the h else has my health information.
   Anyway, there’s my rant. I’m  getting fed up. It’s like I can’t even tell the doctor my health issues or it will be government agency gossip. For my own good of course.

   I reckon that before too long, potential employers will be able to see your medical records to make sure they're not hiring someone that's going to die in two months time or summat.

      Maybe, but will we have a choice? They should have to have permission.

         Yes, of course they should. But that's not how Big Brother works. They think they know what is best for us and as such don't need our permission to do what is in our best interests. Loada rubbish, but that's what happens.
         
         I can only think of one occasion ever when my medication didn't work on my asthma, but that's only because the attack ws so bad. My medication is usually excellent though. Both my grandparents were on lots of different medication, and were told my different doctors that they should be on different things. I think the doctors just don't really know what is best!

   My mother was sure her health issues were caused by a conspiracy of doctors to make money, as far fetched as that sounds when I do her Hub (I am hubbing my family so next gen can read) I will cover the topic in depth. Now we turn the television on and there are ads for medications you may or may not need, but the definitions of ailments that no one even knew existed a hundred years ago? I have to wonder if some "group" whether government or otherwise, just randomly started testing individuals to find out what was different about us, then slapped some labels on, came up with drugs to "make us better" in an attempt to make us "All the same" so that we would be docile and controlled and tagged and in the system so they could oversee us and make sure we don't "start anything". Everyone thought my mom was crazy, but maybe, just maybe, she was ahead of the game. I know, shoot me down if you want, just theories here, not being an upstart. Vive Le Diferance

      I believe your mother. My mother in law was given a medication for something. That led to another medication for side effects and so far and on until there were 11 medications and then surgery for her bad heart. The heart surgeon cut in, took a look and sewed her back up. His diagnosis? “There is nothing wrong with your heart. Get the hell off the medicines."

   I've had my fill of these fast-tracked, under-studied, and under-scrutinized medications that turn out to be causing sickness.

   I should have gone into the pharma field. Evidently you don't even need to be that smart to make barrels full of money...

      So it is scare an asthmatic day for real!
      
      I take symbicort and have kept getting worse. I have lived on the prairies for 17 years and have always had some allergies. But it was smokey rooms etc., that bugged me. And they had to be really smokey and enclosed like bars used to be.
      
      I was put on medication and progressively over the years have kept getting worse. Now it’s crop dust all of a sudden and household cleaners, perfumes. Any occasion for an asthma attack seems like a good one. I get told to double my dosage of symbicort. The more I take the worse I get. In the fall I thought I was done for it was so bad. Couldn’t even breathe in my sleep, always waking up gasping and coughing. I was never like that before symbicort.

         Symbicort is on that list of meds that are causing asthma symptoms.
         Go with you gut feeling; it is clearly not helping you. And your description here supports what this article is saying.
         If your dr. won't work with you on this, it's time to find another dr.
