So Rush wants to celebrate a day dedicated to the great David Koresh.

After the airing of the MSNBC tapes of Timothy McVeigh's confessions, Rush spouted off the proposal that America celebrate a David Koresh memorial day.  I'll assume he was being facetious, but like McVeigh, militia groups see the Waco-Branch Davidian tragedy as proof that the government wrongly interferes with their business.
In 1999 John Danforth (Republican-Missouri) spent 10 months and $10 to $11 million dollars to investigate the regarding Waco:  the independent committee's findings:
*Government agents did not start the fire at Waco
*They did not shoot at the heavily armed edavidians in April '93
*They did not imporperly use the US military
*They did not engage in a conspiracy to cover up
*Responsibility for the tragedy rested solely with the          Davidians.

Koresh assumed leadership of the Davidians in 1987 when he and 7 heavily armed followers attacked the Davidians to take leadership from their leader, George Roden, Jr. Koresh was tried for attempted murder, but the jury deadlocked.
Congress held hearings in 1996, and the official Republican report found that
*Davidians fired first at the ATF trying to serve him with a warrant and his group killed 4 ATF agents and wounding 16.
*No shots were fired at the Davidians from the helicopters
*Koresh sexually abused minor females at the residence
*Koresh employed severe physical punishments as a means of discipling children
*On April 19, multiple fires began within deliberately set by the Davidians
       * Some opportunity was offered for the Davidians to come out to safety.
In short, Rush and you right-winged militias, you are holding up this pathetic psychopath for sainthood?  Says a lot more about you than it does about the government.

You start off assuming (correctly) that Rush is being facetious but end up blaming him for being responsible for offering up Koresh for Sainthood.

The Davidians were at fault and everyone who has eyes can see that from the videos and witness testimony!

Don't listen to Limbaugh very much but that's kind of his shtick, to be facetious, but you already knew that!

I rarely get involved in a thread like this but decided to make a statement based on my observation.

I believe you're taking his statement out of context. Rush's speaking and deliverance style is based, in whole, on sarcasm. He is NOT 'holding up this pathetic psychopath for sainthood'. That's ridiculous. He was merely making a comparison and a sarcastic jab at how the tapes of McVey were aired publicly for the world to hear, as if to glorify him.

I'm not for or against ole' Rush. He's arrogant and biased in his views, but who isn't? He's in a position to air it to the world. He can spout his view, just like you just did. You have a right to declare what you want. Go ahead.

I don't think throwing all 'right winged militias' into a lump category is entirely accurate. That suggests that all right wingers are radical, gun-totin' nut jobs.

Can Rush's sarcasm be taken so literally? Nah...

I agree with Rush.  If you're gonna glorify True Believers; why stop with Tim McVeigh?

Rush is an idiot.  Besides Rush was talking about David Koresh, not Timothy McVeigh.  Tim McVeigh was murdering scum who used people's discontent of the stupidity of government agents at places like Waco and Ruby Ridge as an excuse to kill.  He's no more a believer in traditional American values that someone like FDR, Hitler or Stalin were.

As for the handling of Waco, well that was a totally screwed up situation on the governments side.  I don't usually like using documentaries as evidence because the director has too much control over the content, but I'd like you to watch the following one and look especially at a couple of things.  One, the FLIR footage and the audio from the hostage negotiator and David Koresh.  The part of the audio I found chilling was the attempt by the negotiator to spin a tale about Koresh in what seems like an attempt to paint him as a religious fanatic.  CYA is pretty much SOP when it comes to the government covering up mistakes and screwups on their end.

One of the things I remember from watching the thing unfolding on TV was the pleas of the Davidians to get the press to hear their side of the story.  They never got that chance and the government controlled all information in and out of the cordon.  Since they control the information, they can spin the story, which they did.

The Federal Government had every opportunity to arrest him off of the property but instead they chose to make him an example.

In the process women and children were killed.  Innocent people.

Just like last years take over in Texas of the LDS Faction that was based on a complete and total lie.  Cost to the tax payer $4 million plus.

    Result:  wasted money.

The Federal Government chose conflict and death over a peaceful resolution.

They could have picked him up elsewhere but they were there to serve a search warrant, that would have been hard to do from the local Dairy Queen.

As I said, your defense of 'ole Rush and the right wing militias say more about you than they do about the government.  Koresh hid behind his children, and other people's children (children he sexually moested and physically abused) and his armed zombies to keep from going to jail.  McVeigh used his example of an excuse to blow up other innocent people.  Not hard to connect the dots.  Militias are cowardly and unjustly defy of the kind of peaceful society most of us would like to see.  We don't appreaciate being "intimidated" by your damned guns and wars.  You don't impress anyone but yourselves.

I said I'm not for or against 'ole Rush'. You're trying to build a case against what you think I believe. You personalized it when you said:

If you want a thread to bash what you call 'right wing militias', then start one.  And please don't label and personalize someone ourwardly without getting to know them.
      Thanks.

Don't bother.  CS is a total left wing partisan and unlike most people who weigh evidence before coming to a conclusion, CS starts with a conclusion and works facts in to fit that conclusion or throws them out.

It's part of a more disturbing trend among left wingers to either ignore the opposition or try to publicly shame them into silence.  That's why they use attacks like racist, gun-toting nutjob and right-winger militia.  The best thing to do is call it for what it is, political partisanship, and then ignore it.

There are, after all, plenty of bright and decent people who are willing to actually talk the issues, rather than just scream imprecations and slurs.

It's a little trick we learned during the Bush years. Unpatriotic, Tax and Spend Liberals, now we're even Socialist!

I guess we learned our lesson well.

I didn't agree with Bush either.  Just because one person does something stupid and asinine, that doesn't make it OK for anyone else who follows to make stupid and asinine decisions either.

Unlike you right wing zombies, I do my homework and I can actually think without being programed by your conservo rant radio.  I researched my forum, and I'm not some gullible hick who believes everything I read or hear, unlike you folks. Don't dish it out if you can't take it.  I know how allergic you are to the truth.

Wow, slurs and belittlement.  Are you sure you do research or do you just ape what you hear from your political masters?  In the end people like you don't matter, you can say "right wing zombie" and hick all you want, but all you show is how narrow minded and uninformed you really are.
