Ridiculous Federal Government Unemployment Numbers

   I read this... and it just points out how ridiculous unemployment numbers are as reported by the Federal Government.
   
   Unemployment went up because UNEMPLOYED people resumed looking for work?  Duh!
   
   This only PROVES that Unemployment is much, much higher than is reported.
   
   Crash is still coming.  Yesterdays Dow Jones fiasco is further proof.  To suggest that a single trader accidentally triggered a 1,000 point fall is even more ridiculous.  Put your money on black or red and come to Vegas!  You might have better odds.

      It says something else as well when so many people are somehow able to survive without having to work. So why are they looking for work now, because they need extra money? Or is it because they think they can make more then what they're getting on unemployment? I wonder too if they would have given up looking if they weren't getting assistance. In any case it will take us many years to gain back the 8 million jobs we lost in this recession. I heard more than one economist say we would have to add 500,000 jobs per month, every month for several years to get back to where we were. Obviously we aren't going to get there with government spending so can this government create the environment for business that will get us there? If so, when?

         The Obama government will never do that unless they cut taxes - which their spending won't allow them to do. Easing the tax burden on individuals and businesses allows both to spend more. When more money comes into a business it allows them to hire more people to keep up with the demand for their products or services. Why this most basic of economic principles is misunderstood by so many I don't know.

   Leave it to the wingnuts to desparately try to find (or create) a cloud to put around a silver lining.
   
   Here's the facts.
   
   There was a gain of 290,000 jobs.
   That's up from a revised 230,000 jobs in March.
   That's the best monthly gain since March 2006.
   After 2 years of job losses, the economy has gained jobs in 5 of the last 6 months.
   There have been job gains this year of 573,000 jobs.
   This number is inflated by 66,000 temp jobs working on the census. Aven if you take those jobs out, it's a half-million jobs gained so far this year.
   
   Those are the facts. Here's my opinion. The wingnuts are going to do EVERYTHING they can between now and November to deceive, conceal, distort and confuse the jobs picture. I'd be happy if they gave credit where it's due and then made conservative suggestions how to improve the real situation for the millions out of work. But it's not happening that way, and that should tell you something about who to trust.

            I'm familiar with Maroeconomics from college - I generally get my info from Paul Krugman's blog. He's a Nobel-Prize winner in economics.
            
            Cutting taxes is a way of making rich people richer. That's why it's the central plank of the teabaggers code. I am ALL for spending government money smarter.

                  Do wingnuts award some kind of special status to NOT being educated, or NOT having certification, or NOT having  qualifications and NOT having awards in their field?
                  
                  That would explain Palin, sho couldn't stick out a full term as Governor of Alaska and had to go to  6 different colleges for a degree in journalism. And it would REALY explain Joe the Plumber.  How far down the food chain are you willing to go?

               Take note! It's the taxpayers money not the governments. It is the governments responsibility to spend the taxpayers money for the benefit of all citizens  first before spending our money on entitlements going  to illegal aliens.
               Arizona SB1070 LAW  is a good start.

                  ANY attempt to solve the immigration system needs to be comprehensive and that means federal. To empower local police (it actually mandates cops harass under threat of suit) to harass anyone they 'suspect'  of being an illegal alien is to invite racial profiling. Had the Arizona law provided for random roadblocks where anyone without proper ID would be hauled off to detention REGARDLESS of skin tone, that would be fair.
                  
                  The citizens of AZ would also put a stop to it whan a soccer mom spends a day in jail and her kids are with juvenile detention because she left home without her license and copies of her kids birth certificates.  The intent of this law is to have cops play whack-a-mole with Hispanics (citizens or illegals). It won't solve the problem.
                  
                  The central issue is and remains - at the state or federal level - making the penalties for hiring illegal aliens so high that employers stop doing it. That  implies SOME system of identifying citizens easily in a way beyond the abilities to counterfeiters to produce bogus papers. The reason John McCain and President Bush supported comprehensive reform was to satisfy the Chamber of Commerce and the big business employers of illegal aliens. The same folks are spreading money around on both sides of the aisle now to make sure the loopholes or employers don't get closed.
                  
                  Bottom Line - Comprehensive Immigration Reform is essential. Any reform without a reliable and colorblind ID system which employers MUST use is a dog and pony show for the voters - doomed to fail. It's WAY past time we solved this problem - and we won't solve it by harassing Hispanics - many of whom ARE citizens and don't deserve to be singled out.

   Beware, the other shoe in the economic collapse is about to fall.  It's almost time to bail out the banks and Wall Street again.  Tell me, why couldn't the government have given each household $1,000, 000 to stimulate the economy instead of giving it to the banks to give their top execs billion dollar bonuses.  And then CUT unemployment back on top of it.  Do you realize that WE gave the banks bailouts so they could go ahead and keep foreclosing on OUR homes?
