I applied for a position and was just notified it is a group interview. Everyone who applied will be there You must participate to even be considered.

I dislike interviews to start and a group setting. I thinking I am not going on this interview.

I am a shy person till I get to know you so I don't think this is for me.

It is not a big corporate position just a simple teller position in a bank. Don't get it oh well happy job hunting to me

I would go, but I would refuse to answer any personal questions in front of the group.

I think you should give it a go. It might not be as bad as you think, and even if you don't get the job, at least you will have had the experience. I know where you're coming from, as I wouldn't really like it either, but everyone will be in the same boat and it will boost your confidence for any future occasions. Like someone else said, it's probably just to see how you relate to other people. Go for it!

Its just one form of interviewing.  Before you discount it, why not do a little research on interviewing techniques on the net.  Once you know what its all about and the purpose/motive of this particular type of interview, you will be better prepared.  Trust me, everyone who is thinking of attending this will be very nervous.  If you've done your research, you will be head and shoulders above the rest.  Then you can decide if you want the job or not.  Good luck!

if you  really need a job, you have to forget about shyness and inconvenieces, it's part of the package, you just leave your emotions at home and go! You never know, they might like you the best.

        I'm dating myself
(which, ironically enough, I also did in the 80s)

When you say your dating yourself, do you really mean dating yourself?  Is the someone special in your life you?  How does that work for dates?

It's to see if you as a Teller, can handle people in general. I've heard of some Corps even sitting "plants" in with the candidates to be antagonists to see if they can upset you easily. With todays economy, and the way people feel about banks in general, it could be what they're trying.

I had a group interview once, and I walked out.  Mostly because when they set up the interview they didn't tell me it would be with a group and then when I got there I found out it was for a telemarketing position - not the clerical position advertised.  I'm not a salesperson!!  lol hmm

Good luck to you, though.  Your interview might be different. smile
