Marvel The Avengers Lego Sets - Release Dates, Prices, Lego Super Heroes

Updated on October 25, 2012

On this page we are going to have a look at the all new Avengers Lego sets. We will see exactly what Lego have in store for these toys and check out release dates, prices and where you can get hold of them. The Lego Avengers sets are the latest release from the Super Heroes theme and these new toys look set to be very popular on release.

In the April of 2012 the Avengers film hit the cinemas. This superhero movie is based on the Marvel comics story and features well known characters such as Iron Man, The Hulk and Captain America. Back in 2011 Lego signed a huge deal with Marvel giving them the rights to the Marvel back catalogue of characters. Due to the fact that this film will be pretty big, it made sense for Lego to release some new toys based on the Avengers film. So let’s have a look and see what we are going to be getting.

Avengers Captain America

Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape Set

All New Avengers Lego Sets

So initially we are going to see four toys based on the film. These have a release date of sometime in April in fact they have now officially been released and you can buy them online. If these sell well and if the film pulls in big crowds we may well see some more Avengers sets in the future. It's still open to speculation as to what these may be. So let’s tell you exactly what you can expect from these toys when they are released.

Captain America’s Avenging Cycle

The first set then is this one, Captain America’s Avenging Cycle. This will be the smallest of the new sets and also the cheapest, this one will be priced at around the $13 mark. This one will have the item number 6865 and will contain just 72 pieces. You get a really nice Captain America minifigure with this one and also two more minifigures which are The General and one of his foot soldiers. As you would expect from the title of this one the main build consists of a small motorcycle that Captain America sits on, you also get a gunner station and a small spacecraft. There are flick missiles included in this one, the General can man one of them while the foot soldier mans the other one.

Although this is the smallest of the new sets there is plenty of things going on and plenty for children to play with. This is a very small set but well worth buying for the brilliant little minifigure. Of the four new sets this one seems to be the one that features least in the actual movie. In fact we don't actually see Captain America on his cycle till right at the end of the movie. Next year we are expecting a Captain America 2, so maybe then we will see more of the Avenging Cycle.

Loki’s Cosmic Cube Escape

The second one released is going to be called Loki’s Cosmic Cube Escape. This is a set based on an early chase scene in the movie. Another relatively small set that will contain 181 pieces. This one will retail at around $20 so again not a bad price. This one has the item number 6867 and will contain three minifigures, namely, Loki, Hawkeye and Iron Man. The main feature of this one is a blue pick-up truck that has little flick fire missiles you can play with. In the back of the truck there is also a launch station that you can use. Another thing worth mentioning is that the Iron Man figure is slightly different to the one you get with other Avengers sets, so don't assume you will be getting the same one. Possibly not the most attractive of the new toys but again three very nice minifigures make this one well worth the money.

Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout

Hulk’s Helicarrier Breakout

Up next we have Hulk’s Helicarrier Breakout. This is a larger one that will include almost 400 pieces. This one is a little more expensive at around $50 and has the item number 6868. Along with this you get four minifigures, Hulk, Thor, Loki and Hawkeye. The Hulk is probably the highlight of this set, he is larger than the other figures but still has that classic Lego shaped head, a really good figure. The set consists of two main parts, there is a part of the helicarrier and also a jet which belongs to Hawkeye. The helicarrier section has computer screens, a holding cell for Loki and there are also some fuel tanks. The jet is very nice and has flick fire missiles and an ejector seat, it is not as big as some aircraft we have seen Lego come up with, but it still has plenty going on. This set seems to have quite a bit going on in it so will make it very playable. It's also based on one of the classic scenes from the film where Bruce Banner finally changes onto the Hulk and then chaos insues.

Quinjet Aerial Battle Lego Set

Quinjet Aerial Battle

The final Avengers Lego set we are going to see is called Quinjet Aerial Battle. This is the largest one and contains over 700 pieces. Due to the size it is also the most expensive, this one has a price of around $70, so certainly not cheap. With the item number 6869 there are five minifigures included which include Black Widow, Iron Man, Loki, Thor and a foot soldier. The main build consists of a large jet known as the Quinjet this is big enough to fit probably three minifigures in the cockpit. It really does look good and has quite a few moving parts that make it very playable. Along with the jet you also get a mini flying chariot which belongs to Loki and is supposed to be driven by the foot soldier. This looks like being a really popular one and probably the best of the new Avengers Lego sets.

So there you have it, four new Lego Avengers sets that we are going to be getting. As you can see these all look really good, especially the minifigures. The Hulk is probably the pick of these and one that will be sought after by anyone looking to complete their set of Super Heroes.

More From Lego Super Heroes

As well as the new Avengers sets we have also seen lots of other releases based on both Marvel and DC Universe. Early in 2012 Lego released a whole host of new Batman toys and these have already been massive sellers and with the forthcoming release of the new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, we may well see even more sets based on Batman. Along with these releases we also were given a nice Superman set that has been very popular.

In April as well as the releases we have already looked at we will also be getting a new one based on Spider-Man, this will be called Spider-Man’s Doc Ock Ambush. Plus we will get an X-Men set which is going to be Wolverine’s Chopper Showdown. The fact is that Lego have been very busy with their new Super Heroes theme and there will be no doubt plenty more toys coming out in the coming months and years.

Now the movie has been released the hype surrounding it just seems to grow and grow. If you do go and see the film, make sure you don't leave when the credits start, there is an additional scene a few minutes into the credits. These new Avengers Lego sets look really good and fans of Lego and Marvel will no doubt be very impressed with what is on offer. As mentioned earlier, if these go down well we may well get more toys based on the film in the future, this is something many fans will no doubt be hoping for. Hopefully the info on this page will have proven useful and you now know exactly what to expect when it comes to Lego Avengers sets.
