Tips and Strategy for Hardcore Headquarters on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3

Updated on May 30, 2012

Intro

So basically in this guide i will talk about the strategy and tips behind being successful on Hardcore Headquarters on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.

Also.. I am on the Xbox Live network, for those of you who continue to ask, my gamer tag is Agent Johnr. I tend to not add new members from here unless I play with you first, and I only play hardcore domination, or Infected, but either way if you see me on, feel free to send a shout out.

I will include the weapons you should use, your strategy, and benefits of playing this game mode.

Summary of Headquarters

So first let me talk about what Hardcore Headquarters is. Hardcore Headquarters is actually Hardcore Headquarter Ricochet Pro, meaning that if you shoot a teammate instead of hurting them, you will actually inflict pain on yourself and will kill yourself.

The objective of Headquarters is that a target will appear, and after 30 seconds each team must fight to capture the objective. Once the objective is captured, the team who captured must defend this until the timer runs out after 60 seconds, if you die, you do not re-spawn until the 60 seconds or the enemy is able to capture the objective from you, and restart this procedure. The first team to 400 (this may change as it started at 200, and then jumped to 400, but i will try to keep on top of it) wins the game.

The games do go fairly quickly as the score goes up by 10 after the objective is captures, and every few seconds it goes up by 10. You should be focusing on capturing the objective and i will talk exactly how to do so below when i talk about your class setup. Your class setup is crucial because of how different this hardcore headquarters is compared to the ones in previous Call of Duties. The old Call of Duties had hardcore headquarter games in which people would compete, and the headquarters were easy to capture, but without at least two trophies you will have a very difficult time on this game mode. So here we go below.

The class

Ok so first let me discuss the way that you should be setting your classes up for hardcore headquarters.

Before I talk about weapons I am going to talk about the perks first. I think this is far more important because this will save your life. In perk class 1, I highly suggest using sleight of hand. Although blind eye will protect you from the aircraft, not much air craft gets called in in this game mode because of the Tubes.

As far as you perk 2 should go, i suggest one of the following. Either you should use Assassin to stay off the radar if and when it gets called in. Or you should use overkill if you are going to get payback at the Tubers who are shooting Those pesky little tubes at you.

When you are choosing Perk 3 I still prefer Dead Silence mainly for the pro. Not having any fall damage in hardcore is extremely crucial because you can have all your health taken away if you fall the wrong way. So i think personally that Dead Silence pro is extremely crucial and the most important perk.

Now for you Tactical Class. You SHOULD USE TROPHY SYSTEM. If you want to be successful in this game mode a trophy system is crucial. Preferably more than one because of the XM-25. Tubes are extremely common in this game mode, and you will not be able to capture a HQ without having a trophy system. And if the tubes are not flying in then you have to worry about a pesky little bazooka, or grenade coming in at you. ( I know Bazooka is not the technical name, but come on, that's better than the technical names). So a Trophy system is a MUST.

As far as the lethal goes. I will leave this to your discretion. Although i personally prefer the semtex grenade, as i feel this is the best for sticking that grenade just where you need it, plus you can hold it for a longer period of time.

As far as your kill streaks go, you should focus on the support kill streaks because unless you camp and don't help your team, it is fairly difficult for you to get your assault kill streaks with all the tubes flying around. I will leave this section up to your discretion as well as this can be what ever you want.

So now the weapons. Personally some may say use the XM-25 on this game mode, but the better method is using the overkill with dual tube launchers. This is a good method if you are trying to combat those pesky tubers who are going to be coming at you tubes blazing. So although using tubes is cheap, its better to combat them with them, then quit the game, because i have yet to play a game where tubes were not constantly flying. Personally i don't care which assault rifles you use for the tubes, but i do suggest dual assault rifles with tubes.

If you are not going to use overkill and you are going to take the assassin route, then i suggest you use an assault rifle, with your personal attachments, with an XM-25, or SMAW because both of these are effective on Headquarters.

KEEP IN MIND, I DO NOT LIKE, OR CONDONE TUBING, BUT WHEN YOU ARE CONTINUOUSLY TUBED BY THE HEADQUARTERS COMMUNITY YOUR ONLY OPTION IS TO FIGHT BACK.

Strategy for Playing

So now lets talk about the actual game play. Your main goal should be charging the HQ. This will get you the most amount of points that you will be able to physically acquire. This will allow you to also have the best chance of success of winning with your team.

Do not forget to set up your trophy system. This is SOOOO crucial to your survival.

Remember that the team that captures the objective has a slight advantage on the next HQ point. So if you want to win it is best to put in a team effort to get every objective. This is truly a team based game, and one person cannot win, so you must work as a team to win as a team.

Overall don't stress, there will be updates to this game, and i will update this page as accordingly because this game mode is still in the pre-phase.
