Top Zombie Games For the Xbox 360: Battle The Undead Hordes On Your Xbox

Updated on February 25, 2013

If you're the type who loves to take out their aggression on mindless hordes of the undead, then you're in luck. The Xbox 360 has some of the best titles available for those who love to run, gun, smack, and shoot the undead. Not only are new zombie games coming out constantly, the 360 has a whole back catalog of exciting zombie games that goes all the way back to the day it launched.

If you're a zombie fan who hasn't gotten an Xbox 360 yet, check out this article to find more information about this top-selling system.

Here are some of the best zombie games for the Xbox 360!

Dead Rising 2

The sequel to the Xbox 360s first zombie game, Dead Rising 2 takes players out of the shopping mall and onto the Vegas strip.  Like the first game, players can use just about anything they find lying around to slash, stab, shoot, or stomp the thousands of mindless creatures swarming the streets.

Featuring top-notch action gameplay, the Dead Rising series has earned a reputation as one of the best Xbox 360 games available.  Whether you're barreling through a mass of beasties using a moose head, or sniping them from afar, Dead Rising 2 is sure to quench your thirst for zombie-related gaming.

F.E.A.R 3

Once again, the F.E.A.R. series is coming to the Xbox 360 for plenty of zombie, ghost, and demon killing. Featuring intense first person shooter action and a taut supernatural horror storyline, F.E.A.R. 3 is just the horror game FPS addicts have been waiting for.

Like the previous installments, the graphics in F.E.A.R. 3 are top-notch. Players can expect wild firefights and the haunting stillness of possessed building to be given equal attention by the artists in charge. If you're looking for a new zombie game for the Xbox 360, F.E.A.R.3 is a safe bet.

Resident Evil 5

It wouldn't be a list of the best zombie video games without a Resident Evil game! RE5 takes the revolutionary gameplay advancements made by its predecessor, Resident Evil 4, and ups the action. With a brand new co-op system and the classic zombie shooting action RE fans have come to expect, Resident Evil 5 was one of 2009s best games and one of the top zombie titles available on the 360.

Also, for the record, it doesn't matter what Capcom says: these things are totally zombies. Are they mindless husks of humans shambling mindlessly across the landscape until they smell the flesh of the living? Do they bite and tear at you? Oh, they do? They're zombies. Sorry, Charlie.

Left 4 Dead 2

When it comes to zombie gaming, Valve seems like they can do no wrong.  Already home to some high quality undead from their alien-infested civilians in the Half Life series, Valve finally made an entire game devoted to the undead.  In Left 4 Dead 2, up to four players join together on a frantic rush to safety from a massive horde of zombies.

Unlike the slower, scarier Resident Evil  series, Left 4 Dead 2 is non-stop action as players run and gun down the streets of New Orleans.  The perfect game for any zombie fan, L4D2 makes zombie killing on the Xbox 360 a group sport, just like it should be.

Deadly Premonition

A bizarre but engrossing budget game from Japan, Deadly Premonition features deadly ghosts and zombies and an off-kilter sense of humor. A mix between classic survival horror gameplay and the open world, do-anything sandbox gaming of the Grand Theft Auto series, Deadly Premonition is one of the most unique zombie games for the Xbox 360.

With a storyline that is equal parts Twin Peaks and Night of the Living Dead, Deadly Premonition features a quirky FBI agent tracking down a killer in a small forest town. In between visiting locals and collecting clues, you'll be forced to deal with the supernatural element that has taken root in the small village. Anyone looking for a zombie game that takes its players off the beaten path should try Deadly Premonition right away.

Plants Vs Zombies for the 360 Arcade

Plants Vs Zombies

An adorable "Tower Defense" style game, Plants Vs Zombies is available on the 360 via Xbox Live Arcade. A perfect budget title for the zombie fan, the games light-hearted style and kid-friendly graphics make it the perfect title for even the youngest fan of the undead.

Guard your yard by placing a variety of different flowers and other vegetables in the soil. Then sit back and watch as they shred the incoming zombie hordes who are attempting to eat your brains! Use Pea Shooters, Wall Nuts, poisonous mushrooms, and other adorable and deadly plants to keep zombies off your doorstep in this adorable 360 zombie game.

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead

No, not the first person shooter Walking Dead game based off of the television show. The only Walking Dead game you should be playing is the adventure game based off the popular comic book. Struggle to maintain friendships, find food and water, navigate tricky social situations, and oh, yeah, fight against the zombie apocalypse.

Winner of multiple game of the year awards, The Walking dead is without a doubt the most prestigious zombie game for the Xbox 360.

Alone In The Dark

A revamp of the classic survival horror series, Alone in the Dark is an original Xbox 360 horror game. Featuring a battle system heavily dependent on the usage of fire and open flames, AITD takes a new look at a classic genre.  As befits the new emphasis on fire for survival, heat effects are rendered like never before in a video game.

Cut up into easy to play episodes, Alone in the Dark takes a new and exciting look at classic zombie shooting gameplay.

Dead Space 2 and 3

Yeah, yeah, they're "necromorphs", not zombies. But they are. They die. They come back to life as terrible monsters. They eat you. Make believe sci-fi names aside, Dead Space 2 is sure to be another hit Xbox 360 zombie game. The first was an utterly terrifying survival horror/action thriller that took a surprisingly badass engineer through the abandoned halls of a space station overtaken by terrible creatures.

I slightly prefer Dead Space 2 over Dead Space 3. If you prefer your zombie games a little scarier, try out Dead Space 2. If you like more action in your Xbox 360 zombie games, Dead Space 3 is probably the better buy.
