I always find different collections so interesting. What do you collect? and why?

When I was a teenager I collected stuffed monkeys. A friend gave me one for my birthday, then I  gave him one and it soon became a tradition. Other's saw my collection and that is what they started to give me as well.

Most of my collections are things other people gave me. I've always liked Tigger from Winnie-the-Pooh and so named one of my cats Tigger. People started buying me all kinds of things with Tigger on it, stuffed Tiggers, etc. I don't buy them myself and I no longer have that cat but my collection is still growing. I also have a collection of Gone With the Wind stuff that my grandmother left to me when she died because a love of the movie was something we shared. I haven't added to that one but I'll keep the stuff because it's from Grandma.

I collect Presidential campaign buttons. My oldest piece is a Benjamin Harrison button from the campaign of 1888. I collect both the winners, the losers, and the "also ran" candidates. They are an interesting piece of history that lead me to learn more about issues that were important to people throughout US history and the people behind the headlines.

I collect retro video games, the games I remember from my childhood that I couldn't afford to buy (well not all of them anyway) but have somehow survived 30 years for me to collect today.

I focus on handheld games that had a dedicated screen and programming, but had great design that makes you want to pick them up and play with them.  I have over 50 games in my collection, all from the early 80's, and all games that people born in the 70's will remember from their own childhood.

    Cheers

    Roly

I  have a collection of U.S. stamps which go back to hand cancelled revenue types and those of Hawaii before statehood. I love the artwork and the fine engraving. I also collect vintage fashion buttons from all over the world, and souvenir Danish floaty pens which have designs that float in gel like the original "stripper" pen.

I've collected a variety of things over the hands of time: angels, swans and doves, sunflowers and strawberries. These are the things I like to decorate my home with. I don't collect things anymore, since I'm all out of space in my new apartment.
