Do you feel sadness towards the end of Summer?

I notice I feel melancholic towards the end of summer - a pull towards mourning as though I want the summer back.  I've noticed it over the years.  It's a very deep and real feeling as though it is a natural sad feeling.
    Do you have this feeling?
What could it really be about?

Definitely not.  I cant wait to get back to college after five months off, Christmas is closer and it's nearly time to start preparing, It means lit fires in the living room, watching scary movies at seven in the evening because it's so dark, warm foods like stews and roasts...I love winter smile

I certainly experience end of summer blues. For me it is mostly due to the fact that I am a teacher. Don't get me wrong I like teaching and am thankful to have a job, but the end of summer means that I no longer own my time. During the summer I have time to spend with my children; I can read and write. Fall brings added responsibility and stress.

Summer has never been my favorite season. I love fall and winter. I miss having a real winter since I am presently living in Texas. I've lived in Alaska, Canada and Europe and I miss those winters!

Nope. I feel happiness. At this point, I'm happy that the summer is coming to a close and the heat will soon go away. My three weeks of school break is over and back to an organized schedule and feeling worth something.

Me too, Goodlady.  In fact, you could say I have winter phobia.  I seriously have nightmares about winter storms. Crazy, right?  I guess the bleakness and cold really get to me.

Yes I meant this deep feeling of loss at leaving long bright days, sun, holiday, easy clothes - for cool then dark then cold. Once inside the winter I'm fine ( just cold!) but anticipating the change brings on sadness - mellow. We are only creatures.

When I lived in the UK I certainly did, but also looked forwards to seeing the beautiful orange, reds and browns on the trees.

Now I'm in Australia, I'm actually relived at the end of the summer as the heat can be a bit much a times.
