Self education. My background was teaching and I quickly discovered that a student's main problem was their own lack of interest to learn. There never was a keen student. At that time I was studying Hindu philosophy and was impressed by the idea of "putting knowledge into practice". Realizing I had large gaps in theory vs practice I put great energy into practical application of knowledge and by continually increasing knowledge, then practice, became highly proficient in art and music. I became my best student!
Time permitting I also tried to open up other areas of law, anthropology, writing and religion.  Comparative religion became another specialty and I studied with many varied groups.
I am now a professional pianist and freelance artist.
My future goal is to hopefully revise high school math online and go on to uni level math as math was always a weak point.

Excellent Oztinato. Thanks for an inspiring reply. Knowledge coupled with practice have been an advantage for you and help develop intellectually. May God bless you. Yes, knowledge plus action results in cultivation of true love in other's heart.

Empathy and Compassion. I have not a clue how I developed it. It just is. Sometimes in is a real pain. But mostly it is  a great pleasure that serves both me and other's well. Cool question that causes one to pause.

Thanks Eric Sir. Empathy, fascinates me, I like the theory of sociologist Cooley with regard to looking glass self that explains about empathy. Good attributes there.

Aspiration or longing for God. I read a book in 1982 and awakened to a spiritual experience, that of being born again in the sense of shifting to a newer, different Consciousness. It just came.

God utilise my longing or inner cry to pray, meditate, serve, love ...and this itself strengthens or as you say develops my inner being or psyche. Much Love.

With pleasure, my Friend. I still have it 33 years later. It's called The Path: Autobiography of a Western Yogi by Swami Kriyananda. He passed recently. A truly remarkable man. I believe the newer version is called The New Path. Look for both on Amaz

Patience, definitely. And how did I develop it? Many trials and tribulations. That will do it every time.

It's an excellent strength Dana. True, the trials and tests help us develop this quality. Thanks for the response.
