   Hi, i am 19 i suffer form bipolar d. I used to abuse alchohol and valium when i was on antidepressat
   
   i lost a lot of memory e.g. cousins people im close to and childhood memories, ive been clean for over a year, would i ever get my memories back? is there a specific drug tht caused my mememory loss?

   Short answer is I don't know. but I have heard of some drugs that can cause memory loss.  Also I have heard of bipolar d. having the effect of memory loss, especially when you are in a manic state of mind.  I guess cause you have so much running throught you mind at once. I'm just guessing though, I would probably ask you doctor about the drugs you were on, He should know all the side effects that they would have.

   Eventualy you will I think its gonna take time try looking at old photots see if that helps it may be the memorys you lost have been blocked out for a reason peopple tend to block out bad memories as a coping skill just be carefull when digging around in the past

   I think you should not worry about the memories you lost.
   You have been clean for a year! Now that is something to be grateful for. Make good new memories now. Don't dwell on the past.
   And put your faith in the One who saved you from yourself.
   God the Father through His Son will one day give you back your memories. He knows our weaknesses, that is why came down from heaven, the perfect Son who would not sin like us, to be the Savior.

   If you are clean for over a year, you have a wonderful life to look forward to and nothing to worry about lost memories from the past which may not be so worth remembering anyway. Try to eat natural foods, drink a lot of purified water, exercise a lot and learn how to communicate and love those around you. I guarantee you a fullfilling, happy life! I will be praying for you.

   I know it sounds harsh - but move away from the past, look forward to creating new memories.  In time, you may recover some, but don't count on it.
   
   I know valium causes black outs and memory loss.  Maybe that had something to do with it.
