how to stop my child hiting him self at the age of one
I have a son who has just turned 1 in august the21st he has been hitting him self on the face and smacken his head off the plastic tray on his baby walker. he does this when he has a paddy and starts to scream histericly but he neva seems to cry I am just a young mother at the age of 20 and he is my first child. please has anyone got any advice for me thak you so much staceylee bolam
Put several rubber bands on both of his arms.He will try to take it out,he should not take it out but he will, please try and win.
With my kids I simply distracted them, put something just out of reach that they wanted. it's kinda cruel but it stops them from hitting themselves and after you know they have calmed down you can go ahead and give it to them.
With my son, I just let him do it. It may sound horrible, but it was his way of throwing a fit in order to get attention, so I ignored it...eventually he decided it just wasn't worth doing, and it only took a couple of times hitting himself hard enough to hurt before he stopped. If I had given him attention when he did it (i.e. tried to stop him) then he would have had incentive to continue.
Your child needs attention, I suppose. Be patient. Try to understand his needs. Spend more time with him specially quality time. Engage him with various games that will add to his knowledge and at the same time would be fun. But again don't overdo anything. Give him his space and most importantly "Be Firm" in your decisions. Love him, care for him but don't spoil him.

Is there ever too young of an age for child to stop napping? My 2 year old hasn't been napping for a week. Since I'm not the forcing type I have simply let her lay in her bed and relax for an hour. She hasn't been overly fussy or anything, but she seems really young to go without a nap. She gets up...

What would you do if you saw someone smack a child?Out shopping, I challenged a grandmother who smacked her toddler grandchild alongside me, because he was whingeing. We ended up having a row in the street, which I've never done with anyone before. How would you have acted?
