If you had to choose between in home care and facility care, which would you pick for yourself?

I suppose it would depend on what ails me, but ideally I would love to be able to afford "trustworthy" home care so I could be in my house.

I'd chose home care. Almost without exception, older people maintain more independence when cared for in their own home than being in a strange environment. Living in a care facility (unless it is unavoidable) will encourage the older person to conform to the 'patient' mentality. Living in their own home will encourage them to maintain as much activity and independence as possible.

It depends on the elderly person's capacity. In-home care is great for those who have family, relatives and caretakers accessible to them. However, if you are suffering from Alzheimer's Disease, a facility may be better because there are licensed specialists 24/7 to help care for him or her, keep them safe, provide the proper activities and environment.

I totally agree. In addition, when it comes to in home care, other needs of the elderly person needs to be taken into account, such as their needs for social interaction.
