    Great question.  I've been having some trouble falling asleep lately myself.  Here are the common solutions that I know of:

    1. Exercise during the day
    2. Remove any light from your room when you are sleeping (cover cell phones, alarm clock, use blackout shades, etc)
    3. Count sheep...or backwards from 100
    4. Take Melatonin.  My doctor recommended this natural supplement that helps the body's sleep cycle.
    5. Drink caffeine free herbal tea
    6. Don't drink any caffeine for several hours prior to sleeping
    7. Stop watching TV and using computer for one hour prior to sleeping
    8. Drink warm milk prior to bedtime

    Either reading a book or watching a movie......I never see the end of many movies I watch after work because I always fall asleep during the movie :-)
