    What causes kidney stones?

    Had one once and it was a very painful experience. I feel for the people that are plagued with these stones on an ongoing basis. Was wanting to find out if it comes down to what you eat, genetics, or is it something else that causes kidney stones.

    Kidney stones are caused by the precipitation of mineral solutes from the blood.The stones are categorized in to two categories: alkaline stones and acid stones.It is still not clear what causes kidney stones. Some people have more tendency than other to form kidney stones. A person with a family history of kidney stones may be more likely to develop stones.People who are prone to form kidney stones should refrain from high oxalate foods such as green leafy vegetables.
