Can we reach the point at which we care as much about someone's starving child, as we do about pets?

Whole stores and sections of supermarkets are devoted to pet supplies and foods.  Would you also know how to donate for relief of human beings who are in need of food and clean water just to survive?

I don't think it's a question of caring for pets over starving children. I love my pets very much but I don't neglect the fact that there are human beings, especially children out there who are dying. As human beings surely we have big enough hearts and enough love inside us to care for starving children as well as the animals in our world? There's certainly enough money going around this world to solve many of the problems now.  In my own personal experience, the people I know who are pet owners and animal lovers, are just as generous with money and as loving towards other people in the world.

I think as well it's an unfair comparison between pet owners loving their pets and starving children. Would you ask the same question of people who waste millions of £'s/$'s on expensive clothes or cars? Have you asked the same question of the governments who are suppose to look after these poor kids? Instead of digging at people who love animals, lets focus on the proper issues here in order that the kids who do need our help get it.
