All changes are painful. The best thing that works for me is doing just the opposite. It is pretty radical, but it does work. There isn't a person in this world who would not be afraid or shy at some point. They just step over their shyness and fears and go on.
Do not bother about what others might think. They think one day one thing and another thing another day. Hope that helped.
