Do I need to eat for two individuals during pregnancy?
Will it add unnecessary weight to the unborn baby?
No you are not actually eating for two. If you do, it won't have any effect on the baby's size, but you will gain unnecessary weight.
If you are of average weight all you really need is about 300 more calories per day. Make sure you choose good, healthy, nutrient dense foods. 300 calories from ice cream isn't as good as 300 calories from fruits and veggies.
Definitely not. If you do, you will gain way more than the recommended 25-30 lbs and will have a lot to lose after the baby. Like sadie 423 said, 300 calories extra per day is about what it takes (depending on your body makeup and fitness level pre-pregnancy). In general, if you are hungry, you should eat. But, it is important to eat healthy foods while pregnant. Research shows that the baby will like foods that you eat during pregnancy.
When pregnant, eat to satisfy yourself...eating wiser not more is the secret to a healthy baby and your after birth weight will actually come off faster...a high protein diet may have bearing on a larger baby, but it is not uncommon for a women who gains only a few pounds to give birth to a 9-10 lbs baby...mild excercise is very important during pregnancy..both to mother and baby...just remember pre-natal supplements are very important to the growth of your baby even after they are born, regarding developement both physical and mental.

However, an active pregnancy is the best way to ensure easy childbirth, unless of course, there are some...
