How do I can fit a work out into my hectic schedule?
I am a 35 year old male with a full time job, 5 children, 2 dogs, 1 cat, and a crazy schedule.
You don't have to do an entire 30 to 60 minute workout in one sitting. Break it up into 2 or 3 smaller workouts throughout the day. It migh include something as simple as riding your bike to work (if that's feasible), or parking farther away from the office or mall and walking an extra 10 minutes to and from the car, or climbing the stairs instead of taking the elevator.
You'd obviously need to plan out your days thus, write out your hourly events and create a routine. Out of 24hrs is it possible to have 30min to do a full body home circuit program roughly 3 to 4 times a week?
Example home circuit:
- jump squats, burpees, pushups, lunges, sit-ups, triangle pushups, high knees (on the spot running), skipping, leg raises ect...
As a personal trainer this is probably the number one question/barrier that people experience. There are a few suggestions that I give people:
- Find an activity that you like to do. Exercise is only as fun as you make it. If you don't like running, you aren't going to make the time to do it. But if you find you love yoga, then you'll be more likely to schedule it into your day.
- Plan ahead. Meaning if you have to be at work early, then pack your gym bag the night before so it's ready to go in the morning and all you have to do is go straight from work to the gym.
- Since you have kids and dogs, take them with you to the park and let them run around with you. Get them excited about being outside and exercising at a young age and they'll appreciate it for the rest of their life.
Not big on the gym, so I have decided to incorporate my work out while playing with the kids & dogs. I also coach various sports within the community. I've found that the kids love it and seem to work harder when I participate as well. Thanks!

Do you consider yourself to be physically fit AND what is your weekly fitness regimen?Right now, I run 2 miles 3 times a week. I don't really think that's enough to say that I'm really fit, but it's enough to keep me in...
