Do u know anyone who has ruined life by gambling? Ruined life may mean divorce, embezzlement, other?
Gambling addiction is so sad. Oklahoma now has many casinos as do other states. The problem is widespread.
Not to go into details here, but yes, I've known several people who have had severe repercussions for a gambling addiction. I actually wrote a short story about this subject. It's called: The Gambler, of course, haha.
I know someone that earned a very high income while they were working and now receives a fantastic pension. Before they retired, they were gambling occasionally for fun. Closer to retirement, and just afterwards it began to get more frequent.
All income was spent on gambling, as well as loans. The person decided to go back to work at another job to help pay the bills.
Now the person has no savings and is working to pay off debt. As well, they have chosen to request that the casino not allow them on the property. They banned themselves from gambling and recruited the help of casino staff to ensure they wouldn't even be allowed near the casino.
I hope they can eventually enjoy their retirement with the money they earned for doing the hard work they did. I'm glad the money is no longer being put into slot machines or on top of card tables.
I sure do. My uncle was married to a wonderful woman and they had 4 children together. He gambled away everything they had and more. The marriage ended in a divorce. He lost his job and ended up living with his parents. One day he was found dead in a gutter. Not sure if it was due to gambling, drinking or both.
There's a casino not too far from where I live. Shortly after the casino opened there were a few instances where people were going to their cars and shooting themselves in their cars due to losing all their money. I think that it's ridiculous that you can sign your house away right in one of the casino offices.
I know someone who got divorced after his wife discovered he was gambling away his inherited money. He remarried a woman who did not mind his gambling so long as he did not mind her drug problem.
Many people have lost everything because of gambling habits. Of course, I know some of these people.
Indirectly yes. The company that I work at had someone embezzle from them at one of their locations all because the person had a gambling addiction. The person got away with over a million dollars before they were caught.

If your father (or mother) lied to you, and it ruined your life, would you ever speak to them again?

I have read other posts that claim that hubpages does not permit hubs on gambling. Does that also include the forums? My question really isn't about gambling, it is about casino's in general. We just had a new one open here in Michigan, and the attendance has been so incredible that they actually...

My son went to Vegas for the Fantasy Football Draft. I hope gambling is not involved. I don't like gambling, because I could loose, and that scares me. What is Fantasy Football. What teams are available?
