Have you ever had a dream or a nightmare that you couldn't put into words?
When I was really young I used to have a particular dream that would cause me to wake up crying, but I could never explain to my mom what it was about. The best I could describe was contorting shapes (but not really) and an overwhelming terrible feeling. Certain objects that I held (specifically, when wadded up, the little ring around a slice of bologna) could trigger my memory of the dream at any time.
Lately, I'm getting those triggers again and, though I haven't actually had the dream, I can still remember how weird it makes me feel.
Anything to relate?
Yes, I had something similar happen when I was young. When you asked the question, it brought back memories. It was a recurring dream that involved hiding from something weird that was looking for me. I couldn't see it but felt it as a kind of blue square shape, scared the life out of me. Still can't explain it, but yes, the memory is there. It's very unpleasant.
I once woke up during REM sleep paralysed and saw shadows and noises of aliens in my room, scariest time of my life.
I tend to remember all my dreams (good and bad) in detail. I have had some "terror" dreams - (I call them terror dreams because they are worse than nightmares) - and I remember them clearly to this day and some of those happened 10 to 15 years ago.

I had a dream several times over about a year. I was in my yard and was attacked by a lion. I always won the fight. No idea what it meant. Pretty strange.
