What do you strive for most in life...

... accomplishment, security, excitement, knowledge, love, power, something else...?

Hello Maria. Downright everyday and throughout the day I seek smiles, although there seems there is a small challenge with that. Sometimes lurking in a corner or a shadow is a character of naught known as Mr. Smile Snatcher. Sometimes after I see a Duchenne smile from someone and return one, well he up and snatches it.

I heard he has an ebay store that floats popping up and then coming down just as fast. He sells those ill begotten smiles there. A brave and courageous fella by the name of Neighborly Nate and his sidekick Uncle Timbo are hot on his trail daily. Like Roy Rogers and the Lone Ranger and Tonto, well, they will get Mr. Smile Snatcher. A bit of Dudley Do-right in the mix too.

    tim

integrity, if that makes any sense. there are four principles in life that i believe in strongly...integrity, respect, loyalty and friendship. i look for these qualities in others and i strive to have them in my own life.

to love my kids with all my heart. I could sacrifice my sleep, my hunger, my pain for their sake. I strive to be a good mom which my hubby said i failed. What a dismay...

Your answer actually sounds as though you are a very good mom.
Words like "fail(ed)" make me sad when others impose on us.

To love--bottom line.  This looks like living a life that makes a difference.  This looks like being true to myself--living a life with no regrets.  Putting my priorities straight.  Doing right things for the right motivations--to be pure in thought, word, and deed.  To live a life that preaches a message of love even if I don't use words.  To be empowered to see things as they are--to be an embodiment of truth and grace rooted in love that brings freedom to others.  To expose what is good and what is evil for the sake of helping people to be empowered to choose the life they live.  I want to live life on purpose and with purpose--not just let it pass me by.  There it is--in a nutshell.  :-)

Oh Maria,  I've come to realize that I have strived, and will continue to strive for many many things.  Each day is a new beginning with it's own challenges and balancing acts.  Every stage and phase of life, brings with it, different issues to deal with, obstacles to tackle and gifts to appreciate.
Time never stops, but goes on and on and with it are "changes. " The world changes, we strive to keep up with the flow and remain a productive part of the whole system
If I had to choose something that I feel is important enough for me to continually strive for, it would be the ability to keep going forward, gain knowledge, experience, awareness and gratitude.  I want to always keep my piece of the world, healthy, happy and productive.....and in any way possible, maintain a positive and generous heart.
All that you have listed above......those are all the things that we attract, directly into our life....by first acting upon them.....We receive what we give.......to accomplish, feel security and excitement, and have the power of love and knowledge.....simply GIVE them......they will come back, full circle.  It's the natural way of the Universe.

Oh Paula,  I would have loved to have read those little blue essay book answers of yours along the way...but this is sure the next best thing.  Thank you for your thoughtful response.

To make the journey easier for people who come behind me in the journey that LGBT people have to take - if I can make it easier for one person - I've done my job.

To live my life in a way that I can be proud of, my wife can be proud of, and our children (when we have them) can be proud of.

I just heard a quote today from Woody Allen: Eighty percent of success is just showing up. That’s what I strive for – to show up! Sometimes just the initial act of showing up is the hardest. Once you’re there, the rest happens!
