What motivates you to help poor?

What motivates you to help poor?

For religious people helping poor is serving god; many other feel compassionate and go out of their way to help people in need. Some people feel that they "heal themselves when they help the poor." What drives you to step out and help someone needy or poor?

The very simple thing that they are, after all, 'HUMANS'. I keep Humanity above all religions. If we bring religion into perspective, then we that gives a 'selfish' motive to the entire act as then "we give only to get in the future".

Why do you think that religion means selfishness? Anyone can help anyone in trouble, out of compassion and goodwill.

India is a land of religions (you must be knowing this!). If we (Indians) all gave selflessly to the poor, then we wouldn't have any poverty left in the country. But still there is major chunk of population lying below poverty line!

Thinking about what they have and what I have. It's a real difference and they should always have food, water, clothing, and a place to live. Now, I might not be "healing myself", but there is a sense of accomplishment afterwards.

There is always a feeling of sense of satisfaction coming from the opportunity to express our goodness, whenever we come forward to help or share. This is what humanity is all about - being good human. Thanks for sharing.

You have really good understanding of the dynamics of goodwill and law of Karma. These laws operate whether we know (or believe in) them or not. Every good deed is sooner or later rewarded in much bigger proportion. Have a nice day!

Once again, my point is highlighted! You give today because you want to get tomorrow!
