What is your favorite personal development audio program or book and why?

I'm always building my collection of self-help mp3s and CDs because I find their incredibly helpful.

I absolutely love listening to self-help audio books. In fact, the one and only self-help CD that I can honestly say has changed my life is Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People. I actually wrote a hub about how to do a fun mind map book study on it. Even though it was written many years ago, the 30 Principles are still valid today and have changed my life for the better. It made me think of how badly I've been reacting towards people. Now, I argue less, listen and smile more, and generally am much nicer to other people. I especially love the quote "Everyman I meet is my superior in some way. That I learn of him." Great question. Can't wait to hear others' answers, and yours of course.

The Miracle of Imagination by Neville Goddard. Neville taught the secrets of using the imagination to receive whatever you desire. I would say that this was the best book that presented the essence of his teachings. Some of his teachings were and still may be too advanced for some people. He said prove it for yourself. That was the best advice. It works for me.

It is, really, a great advice.

My own LivingJoy material is my favorite, and not because I created it. Rather, because it is based on 40 years of personal growth and research, learning from the best of the best.

However, it is not yet published - keep an eye out for an announcement within a year!

In the meantime, I believe the deepest and most valuable works of the past 50 years are: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (see my series of hubs on that topic); The Artists Way, by Julia Cameron; and Grow Rich With Peace of Mind (not the earlier Think and Grow Rich) by Napoleon Hill.

Note: These are not for the browse-and-look-for-more readers. These are for people who want to transform themselves and become happy, creative, productive people who make the world a better place.

    First read, then do!

Thumb Up. Yes, if we read & do not do, it is nothing.

You can record audio from your computer using Audacity or a number of free computer programs as well as one you can pay for if you wish and make your own audio library for personal use.
