They have many health benefits. They contain more anti-oxidants than any other nut. They are quite rich in vitamin E, calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc and fiber as well as anti-oxidants. They are also rich in hearth healthy fats but they are dense in calories.
Recent studies have shown that they help to reduce waistline. Pecans have the following health benefits--
They help to control weight.
They are good for prostate health since they contain good amount of vitamin E.
They are heart friendly. They lower bad cholesterol.
They are a rich source of oleic acid, which suppresses the activity of a gene in cells thought to trigger breast cancer.
They help lower the high blood pressure.
They are also a rich source of protein.
The dietary guidelines recommend 4 to 5 servings of nuts includind pecans per week. The serving size for pecans is about one ounce per serving, which equals about 15 pecans halves.
Pecans contains vitamin E, calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc and fiber, as well as antioxidants. Pecans are so rich in heart- healthy fat, it doesn't take too many to feel full.
I agree with the others, but I wanted to add that they also have a high percentage of thiamin and manganese. Thiamin (B1 vitamin) is so important for nerve and cardiovascular function, while manganese is important for bone health, regulating blood sugar levels, metabolizing carbohydrates and fats, and healthy thyroid function.
