    What was the last major diseases the was actually cured in the United states?

    Surgical procedures are good, but they are not cures for diseases.
    Treating symptoms is helpful, but they are not cures for diseases.
    A cure can be a preventative measure, or it can be something that reverses a disease in progress.

    Sorry dude you do not cure a disease. You relieve the host of the ill effects of a "disease". You can cure symptoms or rid the body of the disease. Disease curing would be to preserve the disease.
    Of course there are vaccines. That prevent a host from infection or ill effects of disease.

      Eric, I have to disagree, even though your answer wasn't bad. The immune system can cure a disease, and anything that can recover a faulty immune system is curing the disease.
