Omega? More like A-Mega Essential Fatty Acid

    Omegas are fatty acids that are highly essential for your body. There are three types of Omega Acids, namely Omega-3, Omega-6, and Omega-9. Omega 3-6-9 are necessary dietary fats that help in the smooth functioning of our physiology and cognition.

    But unfortunately, our human bodies can’t produce Omega acids, they have to enter the system through our diet, and hence they are labelled as essential fatty acids. Omega acids help in improving our heart health, by maintaining proper levels of cholesterol and blood sugar. Some studies also indicate that with the right balance of the three Omega acids, we can support better brain function, reduce weight and waist size, decrease liver fats, and even support mental health.

    Omega 3-6-9 when consumed in prescribed proportions can improve your metabolism and overall health. The most amount of Omega can be found in a Pescatarian diet, i.e. a fish-rich diet. But there are vegetarian and vegan alternatives for the same. Fishes may have a higher Omega supply but consuming fishes hinder the aquatic population and aren’t sustainable either. Opting for a seed-heavy diet with an inclusion of vegetable oils and seed oils is the perfect addition to your meals for the required Omega.

    Hemp is one such superfood that has perfectly balanced Omega 6 and Omega 3 along with Omega 9. Per 100g servings, hemp hearts, i.e. shelled hemp seeds have 7.43g, 24.05g and 5.74g of Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9 respectively. Not just hemp hearts but a near-perfect balance of the Omega acids is also present in hemp seeds. Hemp powders and hemp oil can be consumed or applied on hair, skin and even on pets.
