We are 81 in Canada. I don't know if I can support myself for 16 years after retirement... Gotta get writing...

Exactly .. I don't believe I want to live to be old and frail and a burden to my family.  It is the quality of life, not the quantity ... not interested in being stuck in a small room staring out the window and hoping the nursing home staff will be kind to me today and not push me outa bed .. hahaha

I believe this one, life expectancy is computed as per age mortality for a cohort. It means barring all other influences, a child born today is expected to live up to 78 years old. But still heart disease is the number one killer in the US. I think that all the more developed countries have 70 plus life expectancy

i am not certain if that is a good thing or not. are we living longer lives that are better? this is the question that we should all ask. finding and curing things that normally would have shortened lives is a good thing. however, everyone living to 100 years old will take a toll on our planet that we could not have foreseen when we started down this path. i am torn between if we are doing what is right and natural and if we should continue.

i just think maybe it is more about the baby and the elderly that have a harder time adjusting than anything.  but, what the hey, why is everyone not celebrating and enjoying life more.  i always thought age is just a number, and if you sent every waking moment doing something meaningful, you will always live long and thrive.   ^__^

The UK is 80.1 - could it be we have a National Health Service?
What about those socialist, communist Cubans?  They still live longer than Americans too.  Isn't that weird?
