Making Your Own Christmas Gift Basket

The possibilities are endless when it comes to Christmas gift basket ideas! I've listed a few of the ideas below but use your imagination. A gift basket can be a super personalized gift designed exactly for a certain someone with their interests in mind that will be a welcome change from the 'standard' or traditional gift.

 

TRADITIONAL GIFT BASKET IDEAS

 

Some ideas for fillers

  • Containers or bags of homemade cookies and candies
  • Crackers
  • Bottle of cider or wine
  • Christmas ornament or two
  • Cheeses or spreads
  • Chutneys
  • Jams or fruit butters
  • Add a few inexpensive gift certificate cards
  • Add some candy canes or decorations to round it out

 

Traditional Gift Basket

Some ideas for fillers

  • Homemade dog treats in decorative bags or tins
  • Cat toys
  • Cat treats
  • Magazine or book on pet
  • Small gift certificate for pet store
  • Mugs or T-shirt
  • Dog or cat dishes
  • Dog or cat placemats

High Brow Basket

If you know someone who is on the intellectual side and likes music, films, books - here are some ideas for I call the Artsy Fartsy basket!

  • Book(s) but do some research into what they like to read or what nonfiction types of things they like to research
  • Add a coffee mug or 2
  • Coffee beans (could even slip in a small grinder)
  • CD of their particular kind of music
  • Bottle of wine with a couple of glasses
  • DVD of classic movie or a movie you know they love
  • Tickets to a local play or performance

Basket For The Cook

Again, be creative - there are a million gadgets and tools out there. Some ideas would be:

  • Print off mini-tart recipe - Add mini-muffin pan and tart tool
  • Spatulas and gadgets
  • Smaller pans such as a biscotti pan or a small melting pan
  • Staples like Dutch cocoa or nuts
  • Mitts and towels
  • Trivets
  • Rolled placemats or napkins
  • Napkin holders
  • Cookbooks on specific things such as candy making
