Hi My names Toya. I live in London UK and am working online selling products, blogging and writing reviews and articles like at Hub Pages.

What kind of party do you want to have?

Everyone loves to party and there's nothing better than having your own party.

You can opt for something more low key like dinner out with friends and clubbing afterwards and organize a party table with drinks and food at a restaurant/club.

Or you could organize a party in the ballroom at a hotel. Invite your guests, have DJ's, a buffet and either a theme or dress code.

And you might want to have a party at home which needs just as much even more organizing than having it somewhere else.

You have to think of so many things when planning your own party and it is a good idea to plan ahead as you will also have to get ready and look your best since it is your own event.

Are you going to plan a summer or winter party? And does it matter what the guests wear? Are you going to get caterers or do it yourself and how about serving the food and drinks, who will be doing it?

Small things like this can be overlooked when planning a party and it is better to write a list of all the things you need to do and get ready before the big day or night!

What you need to do for your party

If you're having a party you'll want to plan ahead so that it goes well on the night. Here is a list of some important things you'll need so that you can get ready:

  • Invitations
  • Theme
  • What to wear
  • Food, Buffet or sit down meal
  • Music
  • Dancing
  • Venue, at home or in a hotel or other venue
  • Party decorations,
  • Table decorations

How about the music for your party?

Will you have dancing at your party or just background music?

It's better to have some music and clear an area in your house for dancing as the night goes on or use a separate room as the dancing room so that your guests can either hang out in a more relaxed bar type area with background music in one room and then use another room for dancing.

You could also hire a DJ for the night who will arrange everything for you and bring his own music, sound system and also lighting equipment. You can order colored lights and a flashing disco globe to make the party really good and ask the DJ what kind of music you want played. For example, you could have a party playing Disco or R'n'B and Pop, Folk, Rock or whatever you choose. And, in the other rooms you could have a ready made party mix and just leave it playing as background music.

If you are hosting your party at a venue like a hotel, bar or club then the music will be included in your party planning taking away some of the stress in organizing for the night. Most hotels and clubs provide the DJ and have their own dance floor equipped with lights and a sound system. You will probably be offered various options for entertainment on the night and could also arrange to have a singer, live band or other entertainer to perform.

Will you have a theme party and get your guests to dress according to the theme? How will your house or venue be decorated on the night?
