I think it's a great day if you keep in mind what it was supposed to be about....love and all the trimmings.
I personally use it to reaffirm my love for my husband of 35+ years but most often nowadays it is turned into a commercial extravaganza so we stay home and make our own romantic evening/day of it.
We always give each other gifts and make special meals, etc. but we never go out anymore because it is just an excuse (in my humble opinion) to be overwhelmed by the other million people sitting across from you eating food that has been made with money in mind!
To me, Valentine's Day should ONLY be about love - whether it's loving your kids and getting them something special or your mate...whoever he or she might be.
I wrote an article on "The Origins of Valentine's Day." You can find it on the hubpages.
Valentine day is the most awaited day in the life.
Valentine’s Day is celebrated by not only youngsters, but married couples also celebrate this day with great enthusiasm. Gifts in the form of surprises, leads to a priceless smile on the face of your loved ones. It’s the feelings which get counted, not the money attached to it. So, whatever you gift to your valentine, give it from the core of your heart and present them with all the love and happiness in the world.
I used to not like it because I don't need Valentines Day to do something nice for the one I care about. I think its really for chumps that dont show the people that they care about how they feel so they had to force them to ;-) I enjoy it now because its another holiday that I can capitalize on !
Sometimes it can be really good and other times it sucks. Last year I went on the tram restaurant but this year apparently nothing is happening...boyfriend is too broke...
I think it has been ruined by big business, and it has lost its meaning. It has now just become a bumper day for the service industry.
For me, Valentine's day is the chance to convey your deepest feelings to that person you dream of. It's the day to do all the crazy things that will make that person feel special to be in love with you. And once again make him/her fall in love with you.
I'm thinking that work is going to be busy this year on V-day. All the tourists will come to Tahoe to ski, but it doesn't look like we will have a lot of new snow so the slopes will be hard. People will fall on the ski slopes all weekend and thus, Monday (v-day), we will have lots of snowboarder wrists and skier legs to fix up.
Just for a different perspective
Otherwise, I think it's kinda fun. I never hated it, even when I was single. Just a cutesy little holiday in the wintertime.
I think... it's another lonely day again after this new year Hope you got my point guys

Do you decorate for Valentine's Day (not for a party, just for fun)?I find it cheerful to decorate seasonally but then I'm a crafter and it just gives me an excuse to display the little do-dads me and the kids make. Halloween & Christmas are the big decorating holidays but do you do...
