   Halloween Party for sure!  Especially a group function like at school or with a religious group, much safer than sending them out with a bunch of friends going door to door ...

   Hi Susan, My children love to go trick or treating or as we say in the UK Guising, I would never deprive them of their fun but always make sure that myself or my wife is with them as they go around. I was not allowed to do it in my youth because my dad considered it begging.
   My children always finish trick or treating before 7pm giving them plenty of time before the local community centre Halloween party starts. James Paterson aka jimmythejock lol.

   I loved trick or treating when I was a child and if it had been denied and I was forced to go to a party instead, I would have been very disappointed. Even though my children are all grown, I love seeing all the excited little ones in their costumes that come to my door.
   One of the reasons parties became more popular is because the media started a paranoia epidemic in the eighties. Its interesting to note, and I have researched the facts, that not one razor blade has ever been found in a piece of candie, and there has only been one recorded poisoning, and that was by a family member.
   I say, use common sense as far as the neighborhood that you take them to, and if they prefer trick or treating, let them enjoy the true Halloween tradition.

   Trick or Treating. There are certain neighborhoods where there are huge numbers of trick-or-treaters. I trust those neighborhoods and there would always be an adult with him. Usually we get tons of children in groups to go around.

   Nothing beats old fashioned trick or treating in my mind.  Either my husband or myself always goes with my child and usually a group of friends goes together.  Of course sometimes where you live plays a part in trick or treating.  If one lives way out where no one else lives, then a party is a good idea, but it still doesn't beat trick or treating in my opinion.
   
   Of course parties are lots of fun and many times they are not held on the same night as trick or treating, so one can get the best of both.

   Trick or Treating used to be so much fun, but now in this age and time with all the bad things happening to children I would be leary of both, especially door to door.
   
   A well supervised party, with adults you know and trust present, sounds like a better choice and the ages of the children are a factor.
   
   No matter which you choose, all treats must be examined before eating.
