I choose a Sunday halfway between Mother's Day and Father's Day and celebrate it as Parents' Day with a lavish brunch at my house. I place family photos on the dining room table under glass to spark reminiscing as we eat. I try to make simple food special, like homemade lemonade with vanilla bean, and grapes dipped in sugar.
We usually get her a little gift and take her out to eat. It is a day for us to show her how much we love her!
For many years, I celebrate Mothers' Day by making handmade cards for her; gifting her a tiny flower vase and purchased a mug with a mother oriented message on it for her. Last few years, I and my mother had fun times, dining together in a good restaurant. This year, I planned to regain my artistic skills and make a nice handmade card for her and also take her to her favorite restaurant.
Well, for me it's a bit hard, since I'm far from my mom, so I can't really do anything much apart from sending her a card and phoning...
